I think there is a lot of mis-information about RFT's even amongst those who should know better. I got told similar from at least 2 places when asking for prices.

Non rfts will fit on E9* rims no problem.

However, I think RFTs can only be fitted to alloy rims that were desgined for RFTs, so this is where they may be getting confused.

Some tyre places say that the car is "designed for runflats." This just can't be true as the ES has runflats as an optional extra.

I had to tell my tyre fitter it was fine to fit non RFTs to mine. Even then he rang head office - they told him it was fine. He looked a bit daft ;-)

Took a trip to Bracknell Tyres where I have sourced my rubber for last 5 years from. They are always cheapest in the area and I find best at looking after wheels. Anyhow mentioned that I have E90 with RFTs and asked what my options are. Since I like my spine I left my car on standard 17" M Sport wheels it has helped the harsh ride. Even so asked about my options. Turns out the Falken 452s are available as RFT and non RFT. Prices turned out to be interesting

225/45/R17 is £85 (non-RFT) - £140 (RFT)
255/40/R17 is £100 (non-RFT) - £180 (RFT)

Talk about difference, I mentioned the ride was harsh roads around here are not best. He said Falkens are a good option as non-rft. So looks like come xmas it be set of these. Unless I can find Dunlop Sp9000s in the sizes since they worked wonders on my E46
