The articles that I have read in the magazines seem to indicate that it is somewhat difficult to get the best time from an M5. In one of the comparisons between the M5 and an AMG Mercedes (I forget which one, C&D or R&T) the author said that it was easy to get a great time in the AMG (floor it) but that things had to be just perfect to get a comparable time from the M5.

I personally think that the M5 is a wonderful car, but I believe that it was designed to be more of a "total package" rather than a drag racer. With that said, we might be able to keep up with a M5 in our modded 335's if the M5 driver is an average driver because of our added torque. Especially since the M5 weighs 4110 pounds (according to C&D).

But from the article:

"The M5 blasts to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, a dead heat with the CLS55, and then eases ahead of the Benz in the quarter-mile at 12.5 seconds and 118 mph."

With quarter mile trap speeds of 118 mph, you had better get the M5 driver quickly then stop because he will likely catch you on the top end.

I guess we will find out. I am sure some of the OTHER drivers on the forum will test it for us

if the M5 is a manual (which i think is already out) then a XEDE 335 will destroy it off the line.

i think C&D got a 4.7ish 0-60 for the manual, and were complaining at how awful that transmission if for that car.

bmw really dropped the ball with that one it seems.

YUP, You can't disable the traction control for the 6MT E60's. SMG is the only way to go with that car

so back to the torque numbers at high RPMs, is the Xede chip putting down less torque at higher RPMs than stock? if not, even tho it does dip about as RPMs increase, i still see no reason NOT to get this chip

There IS no reason not to get the Xede! btw - the Xede is not a "chip;" it's a piggyback computer that intercepts the signals to the car's ECU.

so with that answer, im assuming that the Xede "piggyback" is making more torque at all times than with stock programming correct?

Yes. My stock and Xede dynos were as follows:

Stock dyno: 265 WHP / 286 lbs.-ft. TQ

Xede dyno: 322WHP / 378 lb.-ft. TQ, + 57WHP / +92 TQ

I'm running on 93 octane and currently have the 1st gen. (beta testers) Xede Stage 0 (Xede-only, stock exhaust) installed. Now, everyone has slightly different numbers, but generally speaking, one would expect similar increases, which are in the 1,400-6000rpm range (btw - a stock 335i's upper HP/TQ range quits at 5,000rpm even though it redlines at 7,000rpm; the Xede pushes that upper limit to 6,000rpm).

I believe Rachel's has some live "entertainment." ...the kind that makes you think the food you're eating is the best ever!

btw - you have a real nice steak restaurant in Sarasota, FL --- Fleming's...great steak place.

o, do you have a dyno chart of your stock run?

I might as well spill the beans now. Here are the test results from when Edmunds.com tested our stage 1 car last week:

Our stg 1 car versus a production stock 335i they tested several weeks back (see: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...eId=117669#11).

You'll probably see this comparison graph in an upcoming road test about our car. I hope I don't get in trouble for posting it up first

Yep, they are going to write a full review of it. I'm quite sure they liked it. Unfortunately, they tested it on the same day as an M6 and SL65 AMG which made it the slow poke.

I'm glad I preordered... I have a feeling that a deluge of orders will be placed when this review runs.. And being the slow poke in a pool of 100K bruisers is no shame at $42K admission.

I'll take the slow poke. I can dream about the bruisers though. Maybe I'll get one of those in my next life when I grow up. In the meantime I am gunning for mine around July - August time frame and I'll throw in an xede, have fun and leave real fun to all the grownups...

May I ask why you do not have it at 12psi throughout the enitre powerband? Would it not help pick up more torque down low this way?
