I am not asking for the initial post just that a post is made in general. And don't get it twisted guys on 1addicts definitely spend the money on modding their cars.

Hmmm, this has nothing to do with ETS' rumored ST kit right?
![]() Especially since you started carrying their IC... ![]()

So from all my research in this thread and the new ProcedeTuning website, it would appear that the Enthusiast version only contains 1 Autotuning map. However, does it have a Stock map and does it have the ability to switch between a Stock and Autotune map back and forth on the fly? Not sure if Stock is considered a map.
I don't plan to use NA, Meth, Nitrous or a second Autotuning map so I think the Enthusiast version is all I need provided that it still has the ability to revert back to Stock maps. It would be a shame if I had to pay for an upgrade just to get a Stock map. Shiv, can you confirm this? Thanks! |

Shiv still needs to work that out. The $645 price is lower than the previous discount but with less maps of course. I don't expect a $200 discount to be applied on top of that price as $445 seems ridiculous for a PnP procede. But I'm sure we will figure out something by Monday and post up.

JP has it right. For those of you thinking this is about Terry reverse engineering the Procede - he would still be able to do that if he wanted. You can make it harder but you can never really stop it. This is really about supporting the tuning of turbo kits and protecting the custom tuning required for those kits. This prevents another tuning shop just assembling the same off the shelf parts, grabbing the map and reselling without having to absorb the R&D cost.
Think of where Vishnu is going with this. The new procede is designed to be flexible - see how quick it was to port to the N55. The idea has been to make it so that it's relatively easy to port between the different bmw turbo engines (this enables them to spend more time developing new features and staying ahead of the competition). This means you don't have to design a new tune from scratch every time. From a software perspective essentially the DME is your computer processor. Vishnu has built an operating system e.g. windows and now only needs to build different drivers to make it run on different hardware e.g. intel or amd. The tuning shops can then come in and easily make the computer do what it wants without having to worry about how intel differs from AMD. Of course this is a bad comparison if you hate windows ![]() Think how many turbo engines are coming our way: the new 4 cylinder turbos, the new M3 engine, the 550 engine tuning is presumeably under development from what shiv has said in the past. This also helps tuning shops like ETS who want to develop turbo kits for multiple different engines, because they will have a standard tuning interface to use. Less time spent on tuning for them means getting the kit to you sooner. If I were shiv I would be hiring and expanding like crazy to cover not only all of these but also the new ford turbos and all the other new turbos that will come shortly as companies try to increase performance and mpg simultaneously. |

Note the previous thread about whether the procede could control secondary fuel injectors (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=453945). Note also that the harness had to change for a mysterious reason (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=450494).
What this means is that the procede will be supporting secondary fuel injectors for the big turbo kits that will need more fuel. Note also that the procede already supports meth and nitrous is still in progress. This means that the turbo developers will also get support for that for free without having to develop their own support. So in the short term expect - ETS's big single to be supported by Procede, to support secondary fuel injectors, meth and nitrous. In the medium term, expect more upgraded turbo projects for the N54 and N55 In the long term, expect procede support for many new engines (note from the website that 911 turbo support is coming) and that this will enable upgraded turbo kits *quickly* on all the new engines. There is going to be a lot of fun coming soon. |

For v2 owners, I think shiv should add the following to the first post to clarify and aid folks from needing to read 8 pages.
All v2 owners (folks that bought thier procedes before x date) that choose to upgrade to v5 will have thier procedes locked to thier vin number. These procedes can be sold to other owners who can a) revert back to v4 and pay nothing but miss out on v5 and later features (currently NA and new spark stability control) or b) pay $150 to obtain an unlocked v5 that will then lock to the new owner. This vin locking feature will likely have a negative impact on resale value of v2s. However, all v2 that upgrade to v5 (orginal owners or resale owners) will not have to pay any money for future significnat updates (no promises that this is forever as things change) that will be addon fees for all procedes bought from today on. This will likely have a positive impact on resale value. |

Ok, let me get this straight..... The new Procede V5 for $645 is supposed to be very similar in power gains as the JB3 for $529. But from what I have been reading, the Procede is an overall smoother power delivery and has autotuning, so no need for a bunch of different maps like on the JB3. And of course there are other differences. I am buying a tune in the next month so I want to make sure I am not missing anything major. I am the basic user that will not do a custom tune or add meth. Maybe DP's and exhaust and DCI. So from what I gather, I can expect pretty much the same power gains but smoother power delivery from the Procede? And it seems as clearing code capability is there and that the install is also very simple. If all this is correct, then I am in!
