Clutch

Are you complaining about the clutch to? When i first started to roll of with the cari was like wtf? Seemed like a 200k clutch about to go anytime. Im not sure if thats normal, but this being my first BMW, id expect a little more feeling and reliability on a brand new car. Im gonna go back to the dealership and drive another manual. If its the same thing then i gotta get used to it. If not, somethings wrong with my car.

i think its normal, bmws are suposed to be ultra smooth like that, i stalled it 6 times on the way off the lot (half because of the clutch and half because of the accelerator)

the accelerator is the same way, you hvae to give it a lot of input for it to give you a response

i personally prefer a really the exact opposite of both, but ill get used to it i guess

Finally got home.. been tooling around and playing with the car all day lol

It's a pretty big difference from my Z4, but I'm already pretty used to it. The 328i actually has a lot more power than I had imagined.. easily as quick as the Z4 3.0i, and amazingly, a LOT more low-end torque. Power on the low-end is all I really care about anyhow, so I'm very happy there.

In D mode, the throttle does seem pretty unresponsive, but really, in traffic that's a good thing, imho. Slightly more understeer too, unless I'm imagining things (hard to have good frame of reference since I've been without the Z4 for over a month now). Steering is also considerably heavier, but it feels good. I'll have to drive some in DS mode and see if that changes things (for reference, in the Z4 there was a Sport button that was also engaged when you put the car into DS -- it would make the steering heavier, the transmission shift later, and the throttle significantly more responsive).

I swear iDrive must have been updated.. mine is really quick. Or maybe it's dependent on the complexity of the map (i.e., larger town = slower response times). Either way, I didn't notice any sluggishness at all, and I've noticed it on other cars I've test-driven here in the area.

My only gripe is with the iPod adapter, and one that others have mentioned already: that you can't skip to the next RANDOM track in random mode.. I always just shuffle my entire iPod, and if I get stuck on some band that I have 50000 albums of, I have to turn random off and back on again to get past it (thank god for the voice commands at least).. Ugh. But I'll live with it.

And.. OMG Space Grey is gorgeous on this car.. with the Coral Red leather, I am in love. It's so eye-catching. Coupled with the red ambient lighting at night.. it's sexy! Everyone at the dealership was hovering around my car today

Lastly, Tom Jones at the Imported Car Store was an amazing CA to deal with. Easy to talk to, respectful, courteous, and very responsive.

Good experience all around. Happy to be in a 3

not sure why, maybe the pushing back in the seat at each light is enough to satisfy my NFS
