because there were lots of posts deleted by moderators because of foul language, and a bug in phpbb (the software this site runs) causes it do a pagecount function on the post count before deletion...

Well if your going to do this mod I would deff say go out and buy a real BOV not just have the stock DV sitting to open air and dust -n- sh*t. Plus it sounds better than some quiet ass psssshhhhhhhhh. I mean thats the whole point of f**kin with this mod anyway is to hear that sound.

i did this mod today. for the price invested it's pretty sweet. i went to home depot and bought some 3/4" pipe plugs but they didnt fit at all so i ended up using a bottle cap which worked suprisingly well along w/ some electrical tape. i'd like to find a better solution for capping the ends. my ultimate plan is to get a real BOV though. i LOVE the sound!
I give this mod two thumbs up, thanks for putting it out there. |

so whats the verdict on this mod
i have heard almost every positive and negative to this mod 1) will it throw an engine light? 2) do you need to do both lines? 3) will it hurt / hinder performance? 4) are there any negative effects to this? all these posts and no definate answers. 1/2 say its ok and 1/2 say dont do it. i want to do it just to see the sound, but dont want to if any of the above will happen can a real tech please answer this once and for all |

OT: I was checking out the diverter valve hoses today (like the picture on the 1st page), and noticed some greasy residues on it. It looks almost like something is leaking out of it. Is this normal?

ok i got the first hose off in literally 2 seconds
that one is no problem i have tried everything to twist the second one, and i have decided i just cant get it twisted. i cant seem to do it, and if im having this much trouble, then getting it twisted back on will also be a pain in the ass i know exactly what i have to do i just cant get it done so i was wondering if i can just do the front hose. what will happen? i know your supposed to do both but i dont want to touch the back hose. is this ok? or you either do both or none. please let me know |

If that sounds amazing then I think I need to get my hearing checked.

After reading this thread, i believe it is safe to say that this 'mod' would not have an ill affect on the car. I am curious as to why nobody has brought up one point. Although this 'mod' shouldnt give the car any power, it is still removing that HOT air being forced back into our intake. Just comon sense tells me that it should benefit the car in some way (although prolly not enough to claim added power) by removing that HOT air from your intake. Just my 2cents.

OK There is no real negative to do this mod. The oil residue you guys are seeing is the oil vapor which is all over our cars engine internals anyway. Only way to get rid of that is with a catch can. The diverter valves do seem to be leaking boost or just open when the car is idle in park? Maybe they are kept open on purpose.
To take the second hose off you have to take off the power wire holding tray thing on the top so you can get better grip I used a flat head to help me get more leverage and it goes back on easily just make sure you lock them back right.
