Not yet. I'll be honest, I think it's unlikely but I'll ask the question.

Update #2

The local not-really-a-policeman came round while I was at work and saw Mrs rich1068. The not-really-a-policeman left a leaflet about getting your phone stolen and a sticker. Which was nice. The not-really-a-policeman was quite concerned about the damage to my Mercedes (!)

While we're on the subject of police, there was a chance that the finger print bods would come out but with a more detailed description of the damage/theft it was decided that it would be a waste of time. When I first reported the break in they thought the airbag cover was still there and apparently the back of it is quite good for prints. Sadly, they took that too as you can see from the pics. And as the guy on the phone pointed out, car interiors are designed to resist finger prints and anything on the outside of the car isn't usable. Fair play to them though, they were efficient and courteous. Not exactly crime of the century.

Something else that may be of interest that I forgot to mention in my original post. Notice how the point of impact is clearly visible on the first and second pictures. Bottom left of the glass near the B pillar.

@Securemycar Post where you like. I think we have their interest

Sorry to hear that. Two years ago, DVD player (£700) was stoled from my car on the new years eves. There must be finger prints left by bastards. I was given the impression 'We will get the finger prints', but on next telephone call I was told that £700 is not enough for them to waste tax payers' money.

Thanks very much for your help 'Mr Policeman'

If it was one of your cars, then surely you would even go for DNA test of sp*r*s left by the cat on the roof of the car!

I've just picked up a nice silver disklok for £20 some a local ebayer and moved my OBD port far away from the original position - i can sleep better now.

I am tempted on putting a dummy OBD port into the original position with it hooked up for a 240v convertor so when the bastards try to code a key it wil fry their piece of equipment - lol.

Let's not go down that road makkan00. You know as well as I do that at the root of the perceived lack of interest by the police is the fact that nothing happens to the low lifes once they're caught. The gentle tap on the wrist they may get is nothing to do with the police.

Not to mention their shrinking budget.

At one time anything and everything would near enough be forensically tested, unfortunately it now comes down to £££, so unless it meets their criteria, they are not turning out

I don't think the policemen driving them actually own those cars.

Hang on, Mart's got a BMW...

Is is easy to dismantle/move? On another forum somebody got an extension cable for £15 on Ebay and moved the port. Can you buy dummy ports?

so what we need to happen here, is a few police BMW's to be stolen by OBD. Then they might take it seriously

I think I'd rather deter them from having a go rather than surprising them once they've broken in - at the very least you may have to get the seats cleaned

I wonder though, would they still want to try and bust in if they see a Disklok...I dunno.

yeah, why not.
Make a new key, come back later, follow you around now and then until you slip up and forget to put it on.
