i'll have to take photo in morning, to late now.

But in my 2008 320D it's on the right hand side, where the car battery is kept. on the cover you'll see a lil hole with a button! press it and the tow-bar drops down. ( you have to manually lift it to lock it in place) Press the button again to release it. ( again you have to manually push it back inside the 'trunk')

Just found out that there is a plastic sieve/grill on either side of the microfilter that prevents larger objects from blocking the drain passage. It's detachable for easy clean up.

Why would you pump the brakes? Whats wrong with ABS kicking in? Put both feet on the brake pedal..thats how you get the shortest stopping distance ..ABS basically threshold brakes for you. See Toms note below.

Thats exactly what you are supposed to do to maintain control and stop in the shortest possible distance.

When you have the speed warning set to a certain speed limit, the warning "limit" light and audible tone is not based on the speedometer reading (which is incorrect for BMW's) but on the actual speed...or much closer to it than indicated on the speedometer.

You are absolutely *not* supposed to pump the brakes on an ABS-equipped vehicle.

the car needs to have been equpped with this option to have it. It is not standard, and also is not available in the US. As far as i know.

the original question I was answering is how to avoid triggering ABS (which I doubt in your generation can even contemplate how people drove without ABS).

And if you really paid attention, if one is to read the entire thread (as you mentioned), the "original" question or topic was "Things you didn't know about your 3 series". Nothing at all to do with ABS.

If you put the mirror switch to the Driver's side, your passenger side mirror will tilt down when you are in reverse. If you put the switch to passenger side, that feature is turned off.

Huh? I presume you aren't confusing the rechargeable flashlight receptacle for something key related? I think any design that encourages people to lock keys in the vehicle is a bad idea.

I think that was a holder for the enclosure when you used the plastic emergency key. (You keep the key with you, but use the enclosure to use the key in the socket on the dash.)

That plastic key doesnt work in my dash slot. Im actually really curious what its purpose is

Cool. I wondered if they came with a plastic key like my e46 did. I'll have to get a replacement. Just a "Thing you ( I ) didn't know about your (my) 3 series"

Every lock I own has a spare key hidden somewhere near by. 2 cars,1 house, 1 garage, 3 bikes and 2 airplanes. I loved the combination lock my grampa had on his old Lincoln. I wish my Bimmer had that feature. Keys seem to get away from me from time to time . LOL
