man my coworker just picked one up. the car is 50,000 and he put 2k down on a 33 month lease. his payment was $580.
my bimmer deal is 50,000, put 3k down for 36 months and my montly is $816 WTF

this is the email i got from him with details:
It's black on tan leather '08 model:

"MSRP is about 50K+ and came with what they call Premium I package + 6-cd changer and ipod connector (check out mbusa.com) but sold at 45900 per lease contract. I also had a trade in that was $500 upside down (I checked kbb.com). Residual is about $31K on a 33-mo lease (mb allows option to extend if I want to). D/P is 3K + 1st mo (with next payment in 45 days) and monthly is 580.

The FX35 I was looking at had about same d/p and monthly is 615 but msrp is only 42K+ and is an '07 model with less options. "

huh, intresting. i wonder how much would the dealer want for my ML

Well, his payments are partly lower because his is 45900 vs your 50k. Make sure you guys have the same term/miles too.

p.s. You might want to hitup Carmax to see if they will give you more for your car. Pretty painless. You never know.

Just buy the car at the end of the lease. Sometimes the numbers are better if you lease the car with less liability. You wreck, damage the car, it hurts your resale value. On a lease, you just give the car back. You total it, you are fine too. With interest rates being so high these days, a lease often makes sense (see: lower rates).

+1. plus there's no mod that you cannot undo. im gonna do mild/minor mods. the car is perfect to start with except for missing LSD, procede, brighter angel eyes, yucky rear bumper, stupid wheels need to go, oh shit.. that's a long list
