Al, pretty sure zack was refering to the black trim comments from last night when he mentioned stealth bombers.

PS zack Brian and seth are younger than me, al slightly older?

Hey guys have a question for you? This mostly pertains to the guys on this forum with lowered cars. I'm about ready to drop my e90. It still has 2 years on the CPO warranty. Have you ever run into any issues with warranty work from chicagoland dealerships? Just looking for some experiences.

Thanks

are you going with coilovers or just springs? if you just go with springs and you do end up blowing your struts then you will be out of luck with getting them replaced under warranty, im not even sure warranty even covers that unless something was bad with the struts in the first place. BUT if you go in for warranty on something other then the springs/struts you will be fine, they wont hassle you unless your mod is in direct effect to what you are trying to get warrantied

I wouldn't worry about it. I don't run across too many members needing warranty suspension repairs. I can't recall any actually

Yeah that's what I figured. I was more or less wondering about other things going wrong. I would expect them to do warranty work on a blown strut. Thanks guys.

Btw I'm going with spring and struts. HR and billstiens.....it's an xi.

You can get a nice one for $400.00.
Not too expensive. And unlike regular clothes, suits last a long time.

I like hugo boss suits as they fit my build the best, I will buy them at the closest department store I can find. If that makes me cheap, so be it. I never crumple up my suit, jack it always laid in the back seat. I understand the importance of an image in a professional setting, no ones going to pay a couple hundred dollars an hour for professional services from someone that looks like they just rolled out of bed. Fortunately, I work for an industry (construction), were professional attire is a little more relaxed and I am not forced into a monkey suit on a regular basis.

I have considered getting a tailored suit, just never got around to it, maybe I will look into this david guy.
Dude, don't sweat it, I didn't take it as an insult really....David's a good guy...if you are interested I can make the intro.

My problem is that I am 5'6" and somewhat athletic so I am very difficult to fit properly off the rack especially with shirts. So its either I have alot of extra material that bags out and gets wrinkled or I have them custom made.

That's Ok too, again, I was trying not to sound argumentative (failed). But maybe I was confused on what he was referring to. I'm 43 chronologically but yet to go through puberty.

Nope, but never had any suspension issues.

Ummm...no. $500 minimum for a quality suit. If its something you are only going to wear to weddings/interviews/funerals etc. that is all the more reason to spend the money on something quality and with classic lines made of quality wool blend that can be adjusted as your body changes. Dark color...Navy pin/charcoal/grey pin...no black or earth tones and certainly not that pink suit Seth is sporting in his pic.

If it is for work everyday use, and you are entry level, sure 4-7 $250-$400 suits is acceptible. But even then you should have at least 1 awesome "go to" suit for hobknobbing with partners and important ppl.

Again, its alot like buying a car...eventually if you want quality workmanship/materials/fit/finish you are going to have to pay to play.

Even 5-700 is cheap for a nice, decent suit. I just meant if your on a tight budget and don't wear suits all the time you can get a Hugo boss suit that is nice for $400.

Other wise sure if your gonna meet with clients all the time spend a little more. But I have a 3 or 4 cheap ones that I use for church and things like that, but I have 2 or 3 that are for nicer occasions like weddings.

Point being if you spend 4 or 5 hundred you can get something decent.

What are we talking about anyway?!?!

$500 is about where the second tier of suits start. If you pay attention to detail you can tell the difference. A good tailor can help a cheap suit look better though. Shirts are key however....especially since you will be seen more without the jacket. Crisp/clean (doesn't mean starched to hell - cuz there is no better way to ruin a shirt then with starch)...solid color or vertical stripes. Collar and cuffs can be white. Try to stay away from wearing too many white shirts.

My black suit is my favorite. Why is black bad? I feel like I need to wrap something on it to be accepted by you people.

Its not bad. If its part of a well rounded out wardrobe its fine. But unless it is specifically for a funeral, it should not be your first and only suit. I certainly wouldn't wear a black suit to an interview.

And no, you don't have to wrap yourself in anything...just use less teeth...

James - regarding David Rubin...

I have only had to one time replace cuffs on one of my custom shirts because of dirt more than wear. Its been like 5 years for some of these and they still look great...no button replacement or stitching issues.

I get my shirts cleaned...no starch on a hanger.

Same goes with pants and suits. The only issue I have is that some of the early pants are too big for me now and I need to find time to bring them in for adjustment. Otherwise no issues. Hang em in the bathroom from the bottom full length overnight and through shower after wear...have pressed periodically and cleaned periodically.
