Garage List
The large red plastic piece on the positive side of the battery is called the "Battery Safety terminal". It's controlled by the multiple restraint system (MRS) control module and contains an encapsulated pyrotechnic device that, in case of a significant crash, will fire disconnecting power to the engine compartment, but maintaining power to the exterior and interior lights. (Bentley manual pg. 121-4).

Never heard of this before getting my BMW. I've owned a couple VW's and Audi's and they didn't have anything like this. I think its kinda cool!

It is going in circles. 4 or 5 times already (15 for the "tilt the stalk with the engine off and the lights on the side will light up", 625 for the "rest" button that has been discontinued a while ago). No need to read all 81 pages.

(In this post http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=720 someone made an attempt at summary. I don't know how complete it is though.)

This is very useful for mountain driving in auto cars! Oops, I thought you were talking about how it holds a lower gear while descending a hill, which I love. My bad!

The easy answer is to just take it easy until the OBC allows you to check the oil, since it doesn't register when it's too cold.

2011 328xi, I'm sure it is that I have not done something correctly but...

I drive the car 99% of the time however when my wife uses "her" fob the seat does not move to her settings - she has to push, and hold, the #2 button on the seat to get it to move. When I use "my" fob however the seat does move to my settings.

Anyone know what is going on there?

Thanks!

There's a function to program via the BC (or iDrive) to set whether your seat will automatically move when your key is used or whether you have to push the button. Read the manual, it's in there. It's turned on for you and off for her.

I don't know if this is on here, (to much to read ;O) But, when you fold the side mirrors in and drive off, it folds out by itself...

Just went out and checked (w/my fob) the iDrive settings and "return to last seat position" is checked. At work now but when I get home will try w/her fob and see if in fact that box is not checked...I'm betting that it's not, thanks!

That the next generation of it was going to get loose steering like an Altima. I would have bought another new.

Trunk Closing

Once you have "popped" the trunk if you open it just a bit the openers take over to fully raise the lid. When closing, if you, slowly, bring the lid down to the point where the openers "grab" it from you it closes itself w/exactly the right amount of force to latch it securely w/out slamming.

Small, simple, detail but pretty cool I think.

Doesn't kick in until you reach 25 mph.

Just found out this morning that if you lightly touch the radio preset buttons the info bar comes up and tells you what the button is programmed for, I thought you had to memorize them!

Do you have a button next to the mirror adjust controls? If not you don't have the auto folding side view mirrors.
