I own a carpet cleaner.
sweep thoroughly
spot clean the heavy spots with foaming upholstery cleaner, extract foam, then rinse and extract until the water comes out clean. repeat if stain isn't gone. Try not to mess up the carpet pile with aggressive scrubbing, but it's gonna happen. Then hit the entire thing with the upholstery cleaner attachment.

One is what James did with a hydraulic vacuum rated hose which is 3/4 in which I've tried to use to fit onto the valve cover, although it's very tight and hard to slip on at least it was for me. I measured Vc and pcv elbow at 7/8in.

The other method is covering up one of the holes in the dual port hose. Now the issue I see is that the dual port pcv heater is further to the front of the manifold so if you make the hose for it to fit into the single port manifold with the connection in the middle, you're forcing the hose back like 3 inches right by the valve cover outlet on the hose. Here's a picture of a split hose I have laying around to visualize it. I wonder how longevity is affected using this method and twisting the hose like that.

2nd pic is about how far off the connection for the pcv elbow is on a dual port hose relative to the single port manifold elbow.
so I saw your problem in the PM. You need to reuse the quick connect fittings from the original PCV hose.
Cut along the length of the heat shrink clamp on the connector with a razor blade.
Get fitting from inside corrugated pipe. Hose slips right on.

now I wait on the hitch so I can use my little trailer again so I don't get the inside dirty hauling small engines and car parts from the junkyard.
hopefully.

I've removed all the hatch plastics and am embarking on hatch wire repair.

up next, spoiler removal.
rather than mess with the rubber boots I'm going to pull all the wires back into the car and (probably) replace them all.

Removed my intake manifold to get my crankshaft position sensor out. Not very healthy looking.

I can't exactly source a Siemens VDO part local as the dealer is closed but I have read online that many people have bought them from AutoZone and the part turned out to be branded as Siemens.

Does anyone have any experience with the AutoZone duralast crankshaft sensor? It costs $120 so about the same as genuine OEM at FCP, just has the obvious benefit of being local instead of waiting for shipping.
(also for whatever reason the app has now decided to post pics sideways)

Tested the new sensor and it seems to work great and the car runs well. Time will tell if it's a suitable replacement.

OT, have a question about your roof bars. I just bought a pair for my E91. Do you leave them on all the time? How's the wind noise?

Anyone with a 3 stage intake with the "factory" 330 tune in California... any guesses whether it'll pass smog? I wonder how they determine what is allowed... https://www.autoblog.com/2021/07/14/...ia-smog-check/

I don't see a reason why it wouldn't pass as long as once you flash the 330i tune, you code the car properly to 330 to get rid of the 2FA3 code. Emissions isn't affected at all.

So you're saying there's a way to get rid of that code.. Ever since I messed up that flash on my 330 its had it

it happens even if you don't mess up the flash.

I've never coded it away because lazy.

The fix is to use NCSexpert to write a blank .man file to the DME. You can't configure the DME after 10 hours anyway, but for whatever reason flashing it can cause this error.

I have very similar roof bars and I take mine off when I'm not using them as they do whistle a fair bit in the wind.

I finally decided to properly mount a cell phone.
rennline.
nice little kit.

I think I'm going to mount a charger under the front of the center console and hide a wire up there so I can charge my phone without opening the ashtray to get at the cigar lighter.
It's pretty low in the car, but obstructs none of the buttons, so that's nice.

That sounds like a great solution for mounting the phone. I hate having my ashtray open to keep my phone there and to charge it. Interior looks much better with it closed

Don't buy AutoZone crankshaft position sensors. I knew this beforehand but decided to give it a try.. complete junk.

The sensor tested out good yesterday and failed 5 minutes after being installed in the car. I paid $120 for it, might aswell get from the dealer at $147

Put a sensor from the engine in my stand on and the car is working perfectly now. Also no need to remove the intake manifold. The sensor can be reached with a few extensions without the cowl cover.

However I got to visit my disa valves which are still healthy

I haven't set foot in an Autozone in years, they just sell the same stuff on ebay but with a huge markup. When I was young(er) and dumb(er) I had a Jeep Cherokee XJ that I bought one of their alternators for with the lifetime warranty. I went through 2 alternators in a month, the second one I almost put right through their store window. Bought an OEM alternator and had no issues for the 7 years afterward I owned the vehicle.
