You guys will be fine with Conti, they are highly rated nearly the same steering response as Mitch A/S 4 on tire rack.
Continental vs. Michelin https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1816912 I went from DWS06 to Pilot Super Sports and didn't notice any less "numbness". Grip on the other hand was significantly improved. |

Took the wagon on a 500 mile road trip for work this week to Calais, ME. The far eastern end of the state on the Canadian border. ~125 miles of I-95 to Bangor, then 90 mi across the wilderness on RT9 (the Airline as it is called). A good fun road in a BMW - it's been upgraded to "Super Two" two lane with wide shoulders and lots of truck lanes, but it's still a winding road with lots of elevation changes and fast sweepers. And relatively little traffic. On the way up, I finally turned 50K miles. Had just gotten past some slower cars so I didn't stop to take a picture.
Last night I took a 100mi side trip from Calais down to Machias and back for dinner and to visit my undergraduate alma mater, the University of Maine at Machias. Not much has changed in 28 years at the school, but the town has grown a bit. That was an even more fun hustle up and down Rt191, a truly twisty, windy, narrow bumpy back road through the woods. Also with very little traffic (but far too many deer and plenty of moose too). Back home to Westbrook, ME today. A good trip, and the work project went pretty well too. End of next week I will be back at my place in FL for a few days, so I will get to exercise my 128i a bit.

Replaced my RR wheel speed sensor after trifecta lights, codes and finding the tip worn. It didn't fix the problem so took it apart again and carefully scraped each tooth of the reluctor ring and douched it with brake cleaner and compressed air. A bunch of rust flakes flushed out and after putting it back together the second time it's working again.

I see the DWS 06 clearances on tire rack now. Anyway, the DWS was always the more winter-friendly tire vs the Michelin A/S 3 that was barely acceptable In the winter. The A/s 3s I tried int eh snow were not new, however, so there’s that. Good to hear about the A/S 4. I’ll likely be picking up an e46 330i sedan soon and am already tire shopping. I want grip, but trying To decide between full, fat, dedicated summer tire vs something like the A/S 4. I know the DWS will be too soft for this car and it’s use now that we have an SUV. So PS4S vs A/S 4. Hmmmmmm… |

You blew the FRM module when reconnecting the battery. This happens sometimes on the e90's and other E models

I did a few things:
- replaced driver's cup holder - replaced rear headrests with folding headrests (really enjoy the additional visibility in my rearview) - replaced the oil filter housing cap with a BMS billet cap - installed the euro airbox and a silicon intake hose (thanks 4 Doors ) After driving around, not sure if I notice any difference other than it seems a bit quieter in the cabin now that the resonator is gone. Tomorrow is wash & maybe de-fog headlights. Also: what do people usually do with these leftover parts? Do i sell the stock airbox now? Start a spare parts collection in my shed? This hobby has added so many new questions to my life. |

I didn't intend to start a tire war discussion. I just thought mapleleaf1773 might want to consider the Michies if he was gearing towards an aggressive use considering he was upgrading rims. Having the benefit of multi BMWs and a high amount of driven miles per year, which requires nearly annual replacement of tires, I get to analyze tires on my cars at a frequency most people don't. The PS AS4's are the sportier tire when it comes to turn-in and steering feel. I just got to do an emergency braking test with the E46 last Wednesday night (Bambi), and the Michelins were superb. And you know how many times I get to do emergency brake tests

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

For folks modifying their engine, the right answer is to hold onto your stock parts - in your case the air box - for when you eventually sell your car. Re-install it at that point, and give the engine bay a nice cleaning. There is generally less market value assigned to cars whose engines appear to have been "upgraded" because many potential buyers worry that they have been driven harder. Regardless of whether or not you beat on your car, a nice boring stock engine bay will be more appealing to a lot of folks buying the E90 at this point. You will be better off selling your "ugrade" parts on Craigslist or eBay.
