Update on the walnut blast: I scheduled an appointment at swiderski motors, talked to a guy named Justin. Seems to really have his shit together compared to towne bmw. Hopefully this will resolve my rough idle and random misfire

nice......hope it works out. plugs really helped out any rough idle issues on mine and the power was much smoother. depending on how many miles are on yours and when stuff was done you might need plugs and/or coils

I think I'm going to have TLSS do my walnut blast, inlets/outlets and oil gaskets

I have been using TLSS to fix Towne repairs. Got a walnut blast there last fall. I believe it was $400. They have a great monthly Cars and Coffee event also. Good people.

It's $600, but they're going to do my inlets/outlets for pretty cheap since they're in there anyways. I'm always at their cars and coffee. Let me know if you're coming out some time.

wouldn't advise that, these "rentable" machines are garbage, idk about you but if BMW made all of the effort to contract a prestigious German company to make a certain tool/machine to be used on their motors, i think its safe to say thats the only machine that should be used on it.

Rentable? I have my own machine, a media blaster is a media blaster. All you need is the correct wand and attachment that fits in the valve that BMW sells. Paying someone over 400 dollars for this service is just insane.. You can get everything you need for under 400 and be able to do the service whenever you want. I just did a car i did 35k miles ago and it already full of carbon..

Yea it shouldn't be full of carbon after 35k dude, it should last 50-60k. I never mentioned price did I, and a media blaster is a media blaster I won't argue with you but don't forget your blasting media, in this case a specific granule that BMW deemed appropriate into an aluminum head and into valves, the slightest spike in pressure or slightly bigger media can result in scarring of the cylinder head walls and/or valves. I worked for BMW for 5 years, never once were we even allowed to recommend blasting less than 50k apart and worked in enough cars to know it should NOT build up after only 35k, if that's the case there's an issue with the pcv system and or the turbos themselves. Don't get so offended when people post their opinion especially when most people who own these cars want the job done right. People don't code with non BMW software right so wouldn't you expect the same for this. I know on my car I only want/allow BMW's machine to blast my car.

And FYI $400 isn't so crazy when some dealers charge $1,500-$2,000 for it. Your paying $400 for piece of mind knowing the person doing it is doing it right and knows what they're doing.

I read somewhere that it's a special Bavarian walnut shell from the Black Forest, harvested from the forest floor after having passed through the alimentary tract of an albino stag.

Thanks, it ended up randomly clearing on its own. I bought a new battery and had it registered and it gave an error at first but now it's gone. The system probably just needed time to clear out the code on its own. I'll let you know if it comes back though, appreciate it!!

Also, anyone looking for a mint 08 dark blue M3 - mine is going to be for sale in the next few weeks (unfortunately) for stupid cheap! I'm super busy, basically working 2 jobs, and I don't even have time to drive it. It's not my daily driver, just a garage queen, and I'm looking to do more with my real estate investments so I'm downsizing. I went from the 335 to this so I've been into these cars for almost 10 years now! I can't believe how the time flies. Keep me in mind and let your friends and family know. Thanks!
