No lci sport cars in the yards near you with the anthracite headliners? Now would be the perfect time to do that swap

I do have an issue though and it is that the cover is suuuper hard to move now after installing it. It's hard enough to move to the point that if I open the sunroof all the way it will think it got jammed on something when trying to pull the cover back out when closing..

Could this be due to the upholstery guy using fabric with foam that is too thick? Or could I have messed something up installing it?
You are correct, it is probably the material used. You would be surprised at how tight the clearances are when thicker backing or material is used. Just 1mm can make it so interior pieces cannot move/function normally. If they didn't use OEM spec thickness, this is the reasoning. I believe anything over 3.25mm thickness on headliners will cause sunroof covers to have issues opening.

Makes sense now then that the material is the issue. I thought maybe it would settle more over time and slide well but this shouldn't need to be done in the first place. I'll go to the guy and see what he says about this.

Pulling a used headliner from any other junkyard car here is not an option. Basically every bmw above 10 years old here has this same issue and if I were to go with black I would need to change over every other trim piece and plastic up there

Luckily you can pull the cover off without removing the headliner again!

How do you know once it's reached operating temps?

I usually wait until idle doesn't fall between 1k RPMs to drive

Once the needle is halfway between 160-250 I think its safe to go to max 5k. Needle just below 250 full rpm range

My car warms up in about 5 minutes of highway 60-70mph driving with the oil to coolant heat exchanger and it being a bit colder these days in the morning here. Before I had it, it used to take longer. By warm up I mean getting to over 160 degrees, with this heat exchanger I'll never go above 220 operating temp so by your metric I would never go above 5k lol.

220 should be above that halfway point lol. I haven't put much thought into it I just thought it sounded like a decent rule of thumb one day and have stuck with it since lol

I'm talking about the oil temp gauge lol. If you're referring to an M3 cluster though.. the max rpm you could have is 7500 on an N52

Technically E92 and E93's did; Only the E90 and E91 328's (and 323/325) got the 7500rpm tach and the fuel economy gauge(instead of oil temp)

It's an oil temp gauge, not pressure.

Nothing today other than drive to work.
I bought this last year as a project car and daily driver.

But I have a huge laundry list of things that I have parts in hand or in route.
1 walnut blast soon
2 Eibach prokits springs and 15mm spacers for the rear to get rid of E93 rear sag
3 second oil cooler and all hardware
4 ECS lower temp oil t-stat
5 Index 11 injectors and all hardware to install (this weekend hopefully)
6 and once I seal the deal on here install AR downpipes
7 misc body pieces 2 new grills and need repainted front bumper when someone hit it.

the last year has included the following
1 Polished M-par wheels
2 Ikon rear spoiler
3 Ikon front lip
4 redie the leather in worn spots
5 New plugs, coils
6 ARM 5: intercooler
7 VRSF DCI
8 VRSF charge pipe
9 MHD 1+ tune
10 XHD trans stage 2

I know this was not what I did today, but it is nice to share how my project has progressed.

Wink Goodbye plastic charge pipe, hello metal.

So, I bought something from X-PH during Black Friday as a gift for myself. While I was in there I:
  • Cleaned the throttle body.
  • Replaced the original green throttle body gasket. (13547522361)
  • Replaced original brake booster hose with a developing crack in it. (11666769086)
  • New install of "Verocious Platinum Cured Silicone Vacuum Hose - 3.5mm Blue" lines.
  • New install of 1 "Chemical-Resistant Viton Fluoroelastomer O-Ring Super-Resilient, 2 mm Wide, 10 mm ID 1295N228". Which is just a gasket replacement for the original MAP Sensor (13627585492). Green gasket is not sold separately. But the size is 2mm Wide/10mm ID/14mm OD. In my opinion, it's an upgrade.
  • Sanded (With purple 180 grit) and repainted the bracket that holds both vacuum tanks in "Grey Rustoleum Gloss Protective Enamel" topped off with some leftover "Duplicolor Wheel Coating, Clear-Coat" I had. Base self-etching primer from Rustoleum was still on strong so I didn't respray that. I like how it came out so I'm keeping it this color. May paint the charge pipe this color in the future as well.
  • New polished aluminum Evolution Racewerks Charge Pipe 2009+ version, Charge Pipe gasket (13717568031), Blue Tial BOV, & Diverter cap deletes.

Dropped it off for a rear driver side wheel bearing replacement. Started getting by a whine at speeds above 40mph and a rhythmic sound while decelerating. Had no desire to tackle the DIY by myself…

Is the E90 known for going through bearings? This is the 2nd time I've changed one on the right side.

Got a W210 E320 as a loaner from the shop. It is a BOAT. Handles decently well though. Can totally see that the W203 (my backup car) and W210 were designed by the same person.

Oh man, seeing that white W203 brought back memories of when I was a little kid. My brother had one back when I was like 3...I still remember it to this day. Other than the AC compressor melting (if I was told right) and spewing burnt freon everywhere, it was a really solid car. Hurricane Katrina put it in our swimming pool.

He had a W210 after, and it was a constant struggle to keep it going for more than a month without some major failure...usually module-related. He drilled a hole in the fuse box cover to wire in some absurd 2200W subs, and the ebox flooded full of water and killed all sorts of stuff. That was the nail in the coffin.

got my PA state inspection done

at the dealer, $37. Hadn't been to that dealer in 10 years, but I did a last minute appt. online.

For the first time in 15 years, no loaner car. I lived hahahahahaha

I sat in the dealership for about 90 minutes, no issues with the car and I think the tech misspoke on the video. He said my tires were 7 mm front, 6 mm rear left, 5 mm rear right. I think he meant 1/32's inch..... odd my rear right snow is less than the left?

The showroom had no new cars, all service loaners for sale and demos. Sat in a 760li--I think S Class is king in the segment, but it was nice.

The SA said you have to drive this car more, I said I know...it's my baby!

I saw a 1988 M5 and that brought back memories. '88 535is would be a dream car for me...while the American cars were in a malaise era, Germans were strong...now BMW 3's (except M cars) were malaise era imho 2012-2019?

p.s. the service advisor said have a '88 and a '01. I said the new G cars are more reliable, right? "That's what I'm supposed to tell you." hmmm what does that mean lol
