I remember helping a friend with his S85 rod bearings years ago. Took us like like more or less 6 hours. Good luck!

Prepping for my wrap job. Started bondoing imperfections today on my bumper & trunk.

Wondering if i should also dive deeper and fix a rust spot that is behind the driver door on the quarter panel, right above the side skirt. Paint is bubbled up in about a 2"x2.5" area

Also going to be working on making my diy coil cover over the next few days if i have time

Ok two posts in a row from two guys, you and @Dpc2u , with Quick Jacks. I'm thing about pulling the pin on them. What model are you using? Pros and cons?? Give me your honest opinion. Thanx.

If there is rust... fix it. They don't call it car cancer for nothing. It won't stop eating your car just because it has a pretty wrap on it.

Agreed. The only thing that holds me back is that it makes me cringe messing up the paint and everything around it. Havent done body work before but have messed with similar stuff at work

You're already putting bondo on the paint, and when you peel that wrap off the bubble is coming with it

Do it right the first time, it'll save you headaches later

I have the 5000XL with extensions. It is one of the best "tool" purchases I have made. I have used it for many different cars without issue. My only con is they are heavy to move around, but not terrible. The M5 will drive over them if I just push them together in the middle of the garage floor, but the M3 is lowered and won't straddle them. I think they are $200 off on the website at the moment.

I bought mine 2 years ago, not sure if this model is still available. I got the BL5000EXT, the extended frames. They are 66 inches long, raise the car to 24 inches. I wasn't sure about access to the middle of the car, but I haven't done much exhaust work yet, but it hasn't been a problem so far. I love my quickjacks. I bought the hangers so I just rest them against the wall when I'm done.

That paint bubble is going to rip open sooner or later with even more rust.
It will most likely open up when you apply the wrap.
At the very least, take care of it and spray primer on before your wrap.

If it is already bubbling the paint then you have nothing to loose by digging in to it to see what kind of mess you're dealing with. Take a bunch of courses at YouTube Autobody Academy and dive in. It'll be fun!

Cool. Thanx for the input. Weight is the one issue I have with them. I don't have a garage and have a corner lot on a reasonably steep street. My only storage option is my shed in the back yard which is in the lower yard, about 200ft down the street around the corner and across the lawn. That issue alone makes it hard to actually make the purchase. I guess maybe I'll have to build some kind of dolly for it that can float across the grass easily.

Thanx man. The extended 5000 series seems to be the consensus, at least in TN. I may have to bite the bullet and pick up a set.

Winter wheels are on.. Style 161 wrapped with Blizzak WS90s. For as long as I've owned this car its never had wheels other than matte black. Feels weird to say the least
