That's not too bad. I've heard far worse.

Anyone else considering this?
Has anyone actually evaluated the potential benefits of doing this on an otherwise pump gas map? It seems that the benefits, cooling included, would be almost negligible.

I've thought about doing it so I can run the 93 octane map with 91 octane in the tank. But I think you even advised against this given the minimal benefits with respect to HP

Without specifically tuning ignition and boost for your meth you cant optimize your performance. Can you help an OTS map? yes, how much depends.

I was told that the COBB tuner throws alot of codes and you need a BT tool to clear them before you head to the dealer ? Is this true ?

I have seen it with my own eyes and checked with ISTA BMW program after removal of cobb. Completely untampered and no codes.

This comes up a lot. You have to be sure that you're running the latest Cobb update or there could be a chance you'll leave a shadow code. If you're running the latest firmware update, you're good to go. I tested it myself against a BT tool.

If ur intention is to use meth as a supplemental fuel, then yes you need to tune for meth for the greatest benefit.

What I am asking is merely using meth/water injection to keep cylinder temps and IAT down. Being that Cobb uses the dme load-based power logic, there are other benefits to keeping IAT down.

Its cobb's user/tunner shops software for customizing the tune. It will allow users or tuner shops to dyno or road tune a car.

Thanks....I found it on the Cobb website...Access Tuner Race, or something like that. Sounds dangerous in the hands of non-professionals.

They have "restrictions" on some of it, but you will not want to be clicking around unless you know what you're doing.

I can also confirm. Uninstalled then tested with BT - was even on previous firmware at the time. Scan was totally clean.

I dont use meth for fuel. I use it to maximize performance. You still cant maximize performance on a OTS map. AKA you're leaving power on the table. Ignition targets only go so high on OTS maps and boost.

So you're saying you can run 17-18 psi reliably on a piggyback without meth/race gas? As stated previously, I am trying to keep IAT down only to keep boost down due to the flash tunes load targeting approach, which in turn should save compressor life. No ones talking about maximizing performance on an OTS stage 2 map, that will come with ATR. I am merely trying to suppress heatsoak.

With enough timing pulled you could run 20psi on pump gas but then what's the point...trade offs aren't worth while...you want to run the max timing curve for a given power level with as much boost without knocking...start there and up boost, keep octane the same...when you encounter knock, go back down on timing and a bit, check for knock for the same octane, then up boost a bit more...if there's no knock up boost until you see knock, then lower it down a bit and you're done

then play with IAT based timing compensation..
