Well here is my take on the Helix tune. I installed it on Thursday night and disconnected the battery and blah blah blah. Ran the car hard and light and it had zero problems and was crazy fast. I have the 91 octane and RR Dp tune. The install went fine. Then I drove to Vegas in 74 degree weather and received repeated limp modes (that goes away after restarting car) under full throttle.
This limp mode occurs around 90-110 MPH. In addition the tune has another separate problem. The car shuttered under hard acceleration while starting from approximately 90mph. Don't even try the not installed right. Something is wrong. I contacted Ralph on Friday and he called Anthony and they mentioned the power supply might need to be changed. Ralph stated Eric was out of town and he would call me the next day. He took my name and number and I was never contacted. I have been an advocate of their great customer service but I expect to be reached when you say you will. Helix, let's get this resolved. I will recheck the connections on Monday just to be sure something is not loose. However i would not put hope that all can be solved by an install mistake as i am rarely make them (ie LImp MODE)

do you have O2 sims? the car will throw codes and exhibit strange behavior if you are running catless DP without sims. If I have to I will mix some 91 octane fuel here and try to recreate your problems on my car, at any rate we can always figure out and tune out any issues also what is elevation there? and also what rpm did your problems occur under wide open throttle?

I'm consistently having the same issue. From 80mph going WOT (regardless of whether in "D" or "DS"), about 70% of the time it will go into limp mode. Happened last wknd when temp was 75ish and this wknd as well when temps were cooler. It sucks blowing by ppl on the hwy only to have to pull over a min later and restart to get out of limp mode. Not sure if it's the tune or the fuel pump?

The car *is* w/in the HPFP recall...think I should take it in w/the Helix or take it off? Hyperm3, Heard your dealer is ok w/mods..PM me w/the name if you can (if it's around northern NJ), thanks. Otherwise, I'll goto Paul Miller BMW here, but I don't want to take it off b/c I'd prbs f up the re-installation

You have a PM I'd like to scan your car and have you try and recreate the problem with me looking at the scanner. i can then make any changes to your current map if needed. I will also check your HPFP pressure under load as well.

Sniz mentioned a few hiccups to me, but we are working through them to ensure a solid tune. These are all growing pains, which is why we are minimizing our growth now to ensure less pain later.

Just a waitlist and they are sending them out slowly so it is easier to handle any issues that might come up....

OK here is an update. Yesterday I changed the oil and took the attache completely out and reinstalled it. I WANT TO MENTION I am running 91 octane with DP map and yes I have the simms. Well after reinstalling it the car was worse than ever. The car would make a spitting sound. Almost describe it as the sound of hairspray but a can that would hesitate and then kick in and hesitate and then kick in. It was 95 in Phoenix yesterday. I parked the car and gave up. This morning I got in the car and droppeda friend at the airport and the car WAS A DAMN MACHINE. I drove conservatively and steadily drove more aggressive. By the time I was heading back it would full throttle in and gear, rolling at any speed with NO PROBLEM. I JUST CANT GET OVER HOW SILLY FAST THIS TUNE IS. I AM NOT SURE WHAT MADE THE DIFFERENCE. ONE MIGHT SAY NOT INSTALLED RIGHT, OR NEEDED TO ADAPT. WELL I HAVE DONE THIS WHAT SEEMS A MILLION TIMES AND THE BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED FOR WELL OVER AN HOUR. NEEDLESS TO SAY I AM HAPPY THAT IT DRIVES RIGHT AND SOUNDS HEALTHY. MY CAR IS AN 08 MADE IN OCTOBER OF 07 SO THERE SHOULD BE NO ECU OR FULL PUMP ISSUE. I WILL DRIVE IT LATER TODAY WHEN IT IS HOTTER THAN HADES AND POST THE RESULTS.

Sounds good. Are you using the new power source or the original one?

I appreciate the help you guys have given me, great customer service!

I'll report back on my finding w/ the tune once I have a chance. For now I'm swamped w/ work.

Hi,

Just a thought, the problems we now see seems to relate to the 91 octane maps. Have anyone heard about problems with the 93 octane maps?

I'm looking forward to read your review! I guess JBX is a baseline for you now?

BTW my Attache is now in California and will be sent to me soon by my Swedish friend in San Diego! I will post a review asap.
