So I did just buy this actually, they're both a bit overpriced imo and late to come out for sure.. I've had my cowl deleted for so long now, but these will hopefully clean it all up and get the wires outta the way for good. Gonna wait and think to purchase those covers.

That looks much better than my current setup (just stuffed them back there)

I wonder how applicable it would be to the N52 harness and hoses

It’s a weird one, though. First it came with a kufatec to combox harness, which was unexpected. The other weird thing is that it’s clearly marked as a combox BN2000, but the connector on the module is white, not black - and I thought only the BN2010 (for the Fxx) came with a white plug.

Has anyone seen this before? A BN2000 with a white connector?

It clearly has a black plug in the eBay listing as well, so worst case scenario I return it as “item not as advertised”.
Check and see if your cables plug into it. Those plastic connector pieces on the combox can be removed and changed so chances are he removed one off a mulf/tcu so he PO) didn't have to shave fins. By the adapter cable it came out of a retrofitted car as well

I should’ve been more clear - the connector on the Combox itself is white (the large plug). The beige plug for the bluetooth connector is fine, though.

Looking at the sticker, it looks like someone put the BN2000 sticker over the BN2010 sticker. The model number on the combox corresponds to a BN2010.

It’s all good though! Got the money refunded for the combox, and sourced a newer one out of a 2015 X1 - full telematics one too, and made late 2014, so should be totally firmware compatible as well (my car is at a 2015 I-step level). Was only a $30 difference.

I didn't even know there was a difference when I did my combox retrofit. Just ordered one on Ebay that said it was a 'combox' and it worked, guess I was lucky!

Yup! Big difference. Essentially the newer Fxx models use KCAN2, which has a different speed/communications protocol from the Exx cars (which use KCAN 1).

The difference is the main connector on the module, which is white for Fxx cars, and black for Exx cars (see page 10 in the PDF I’ve attached for more info).

I’ve attached the PDF from BMW. Will put all of this info in my retrofit post when the new combox comes in.

This car isn't a fan of winter or the short drives it normally sees. I do try to go on nice long cruises multiple times a week to help with that though. Until it starts warming up, I'll be emptying the catch can every couple days. I'm going to add some baffling to hopefully prolong that time, though. If I could get away with at least once per gas fill up I'd be happy. Line pictured is from cc to intake

That’s odd - isn’t it held on by screws? Or is that just an LCI xenon thing?

Installed my new engine mounts that were filled with window weld and 70a poly ECSTuning trans mounts. Car feels great. Bumps in the road feel better, handling seems to not be as sluggish, etc..

The 70a mounts are quite overkill and contribute a lottt of new noises and vibrations.

Feels like my guibo or center support bearing is in bad shape when there is no load at high speeds. Both are probably original and have 213k miles on them.

Cut up the block off plate behind the glove box for the CIC usb cable to update maps so it can fit how it should from factory. Not that I'll be using it anytime soon due to the fact my CIC has very old firmware and to update maps you need the newer C1A firmware which requires an icom cable which I don't have. Regardless I'm fully aware of how crappy it looks

There may be a way to update it with the much cheaper ENET -> OBD cable:

Would highly recommend a power supply though...

A while back I got a 330 and gave my 325 to my niece. She's been driving it for over a year with zero issues. Got a call yesterday "the engines making this awful ticking noise" so she brought it over. No noise, it sounded fine.

I played a YouTube video of the N52 lifter tick and asked if that's the sound she heard and she said "Yep that's it exactly."

Funny story about this car, I bought it with over 200K miles on it and it had the infamous N52 lifter tick, but after a few short interval oil changes with Castrol 0w-40 the ticking disappeared completely and NEVER returned... until now. The last oil change I did on this car, I used Liqui Moly Leichtlauf High Tech 5W-40, and now the ticking comes back. She also drives slow and makes frequent short trips, ideal circumstances to cause the ticking.

I did the first oil change on my 330 when I got it over a year ago and used the same oil and also got the tick, then switched to a different oil and while it still happens occasionally, it is much better than with the LM.

I'm sure it's a fine oil but it definitely ticks on the TWO N52s that I maintain.

This is interesting, might have to make the switch to castrol

Finished blasting the junkyard hub knuckles and suspension brackets for the 325i, got them powder coated black. A friend has a business making commercial skylights, he has a different powder booth for a bunch of colors, he offered to coat them for me at his shop, and I couldn't pass up an offer like that

Planning on putting my stock trans mounts back in till i change out my guibo and center support bearing. Can feel a decent bit of movement coming from them with my 70a poly mounts.

Going with oem guibo but going to try the brand new JXB center support bearing carrier with street bushings. Very excited to try this out. ECS says it will be released in February & the best part is you can install it with your driveshaft fully installed!

Went on a nice little day trip to the hot springs and a bite to eat, car behaved nicely the whole way there

After the trip, checked the catch can again to get a feel of what that looks like, highway trips in the winter, up in elevation (from 5,800 to 7,800). Much better. Hardly any straight water, just a little bit of froth at the bottom. Stuffed two stainless steel kitchen scrubbers in there as baffling, that should help out I think. Time will tell.

Combox arrived - the correct BN2000 thankfully.

It's supposed to snow in GA tomorrow - perfect time to retrofit and code! Will post a write up as well.

I got these trunk shocks that are for a Tesla and they came with the spring to lift the trunk up automatically.
Kind of worked on the e90.
Shocks are too short by 1/2”, so the trunk doesn’t open all the way. I’ll extend them tomorrow.

The springs were also too short, so I put both one 1 side. The trunk now shoots up automatically…Once it’s lifted 1”!!! Defeats the purpose. Maybe dual springs on both sides or the bump stops from an e92 trunk will get it to work.

There's a company called Emerald Struts that make this sort of thing specifically for various cars, including the E90. I have them on mine. Press the boot button and the boot (trunk) pops open of its own accord.

I looked at those, it says they are currently out of stock.
Do you need a lot of force to close the trunk? Or it closes like normal?
