Bavsound Stage one install 2010 BMW 328i Convertible E93
I just installed the Bavsound Stage One speakers in our convertible. Component tweeter and woofer. I purchased the pillar tweeter speaker covers from ECS Tuning. Easy to install after watching the video on Bavsound website. I like the results and that is all that really matters. I would say that the sound difference was a big improvement. Not bad considering I purchased the speakers with plug and play wiring for around $200. There are alot of options out there but I would say I made a good choice.

If I want to retrofit Hi-End (Individual) amplifier instead of L7 amplifier, do I need I-Drive or not?

My 2007 e92 has the HiFi system and I am wanting to add my 10" subwoofer in the trunk. Does anyone have a wiring diagram of how to wire the High to Low converter to the stock amp in the trunk so I can run the RCA cables to the amp for the subwoofer?

This is very confusing for me :/ sorry. Can't find what I'm after. Can anybody help me?
After a lot of thought I am putting my alpine head unit into me E90 and have a question or two. Can I put the yellow live line required for the steering controls in one of the fuse holders in the glove box? Can I upgrade the underwear subs without an amp? I was looking at the MB Quartz QMW200 or the Rainbow IL-S8F I do have a vibe active sub I took out my old car that I don't want to put in the boot but will if these will be no good. As I have no clue where to start if I was to amp the under seat subs. Any help much appreiceated. |

Hi everyone!
Greetings from Estonia. I'm starding to upgrade my E90 "base" system as well. To amplify my components (which I'll replace) I'll be using Blaupunkt GTA 470 DSP. Amp spec As the name says it has a built in DSP. So my question to guys is what happends if I input front speaker signal and rear speaker signal from HU to the Blaupunkt GTA 470 DSP rear and front input? Will the front and rear output signals from amp be equal? Since the front and rear speakers get diferent signals from HU. Andres Last edited by Andruss; 10-15-2015 at 07:01 AM.. |

I have a 2010 bmw 328i with the base sound system. How much space is there behind the stock radio? I'd like to stash the DSP I plan on using back there if possible.

My car is a 2014 X1(E84) with base audio(no amp) and CIC HU(iDrive) . I'm look for how I can upgrade the audio system with a aftermarket amp and speakers. Is there a harness that can get the preamp audio signal from HU or the MSOT network?

Is there a version of the Technic Harness for people that don't plan on using the stock speaker locations? I'm going to run HLCD's under the dash and JBL 8" Midbasses in the kickpanel area. I plan on keeping the 4" mids in the rear deck and running them off of the stock radio power for now. I have the base audio system and plan on using the balanced miniDSP 2x4 for the front speakers. I'll add a sub soon. I have everything purchased minus the MiniDSP and the subwoofer(s).

Very Descriptive!
I have a 2009 335I with hifi. Here's my wanted setup: Rainbow slc's for front mids and tweeters. Jehnert XE 200R for underseat midbass Some components for rear deck. Open for suggestions here. ID12 with infinte baffle for dedicated sub I'll have the JL XD600/6 for everthing in the cabin of the car. I need a dedicated mono amp for ID12 (suggestions please dear god) My two main concerns are how do I hook up two amps to this system. Is it technics harness that does this? As well should I get ds-8 and where does it took up in this system. |

I think there is a very good alternative alvailable today from Bimmertech with their amp/dsp. I come pre-loaded with custom calibration curves for certain speaker systems (mainly stock HiFi and the BSW components). For complete PnP, ease of install, and virtually guaranteed great sound, I would recommend installing the Bimmertech amp first with the stock speakers. Afterwards, you decide if you need different speakers. If so, BSW front components (not rear!) would be my recommendation, along with the Jehnerts or the new Ghosts from BSW, if you need better mid-bass. You can do this all in stages, which allows you to experience the improvements step by step. For the sub, ID12 is good in IB, but with limited output. If you can go bigger, do it (ID15 for example). Amp can get signal from Bimmertech unit, and you have a lot of flexibility here. Safe bet is JL XD 600/1 but there are less expensive quality amps out there.

Wow. Kaigoss that was such a quick reply and very informative!!!
Just for clarification. So I still need two amps in this setup. I want to go ID12 just because I'm not mega huge bass head. I really just want those low notes curves just right and sounding tight. Technic highly recommended it. But I'll do some research. |

XD600/6 question
Hi, Newbie here. After benefiting from these posts for quite some time, I have finally joined.
Question: can anyone tell me any advantages, or disadvantages, of the JL Audio XD600/6 over the newer /6v2 (since some of both are still available)? Also, can you you help me get in touch wit Technic, for his Harness? |

The only difference between the new an old xd
The only difference between the new an old xd is the new
one has signal sensing to turn the amp on and off. Turning off and on is taken care of through a relay on the Technic Harness so if you get the Technic Harness you covered either way. http://technicpnp.com/menuDiagrams/d...e90_92_93.html He use to hang out here and people would PM him I am not sure how good his site works I never has the L7 in the e90 but I had the HK in an E46 and it was a lot better than the Hi Fi system in the e90 . The amp is weaker than the stock speakers in the Hi Fi so that is more than 50 percent of the problem . And as you stated bigger speakers in the doors would have helped but some Engineer thought it would be better to have swoopy doors with useless map holders. There are Jehnert door boards that replace the the side door and can have up to three or four 6.5 inch speaker but it does require surgery on the lower panels. The member 6speed coupe here has a shop in New Jersey and is recognized as one of the best installers on the East coast. The current popular setup is the Helix 82dsp with a Jehnert set that fills all the front locations. I have an xd 600/6 with Morels and Jehnerts its pretty awsome. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1207115 Also its better to start your own thread rather than tack it to the end of this overused one. I've got a '06 330xi with the Logic 7 system... I'm fairly happy, I feel it needs a real subwoofer(s) and better tweeters (I think they are a bit harsh).
Here are the few questions if anyone can answer them... I have at least 1 if not 2 rear speakers that are making not so great sounds occasionally, not sure if I have a bad midrange(s) or if it's resonance. It's fairly light and fairly rare, definitely frequency dependent. Being I'm not totally pleased with the system- Has anyone replaced the OEM Logic 7 midrange/tweeters with 4ohm components and run them off the OEM amp? ---I've done this on many Bose systems and been pretty happy. If it's simply resonance, I may "roll the dice" and try replacing the tweeters along with adding one to the center and add some dampening. As for the low end... I'm mixed between a sealed box using 2 10" or 12" drivers on around 600 watts (because I have a few amps laying around) I want to consider an IB with 2 12" subs, however I've only done IB in homes. I'm a little concerned that might be a bit more work than I'm up to. With IB I'll lose some SPL however I'm more concerned with sound quality, getting very low bass and not losing all my trunk space. (I'm looking at 1.75+cuft per sub for what I'd like) My IB ideal would be alike the picture, would this work with the back seat up? (I'm thinking not very well, but no experience in automotive IB) I'd prefer this as I can put grills over the woofers to protect them, gain the SQ of an IB setup, and save trunk space. IB is more difficult with fold down seats, but definitely doable. I'm sure a shop can install it for about the cost of a custom enclosure. As far as SPL, IB is more efficient than a sealed enclosure, and sounds a heck of a lot better than using a standard fabricated box. Next best thing after IB is a corner loaded enclosure, but you're limited to a single 10 or 12" sub in a very small enclosure.
Many people like the Bavsound speakers running off the L7 amp. I'm sure that would be a big improvement. I would not replace the underseats, instead hook them up to a 2-channel amp with about 75W each, high-pass them at 55Hz, and you will be very happy. Quote:

I've got an e60 with the hifi sound and my factory amp seems to cut out here and there when I have the music cranked (bass cuts out). I'm thinking of upgrading that factory amp but I'm not sure where to start. I believe the amp drives only the two underseat woofers in my car because when I unplugged the amp and played music, there was no bass. The amp i'm talking about is located on my left wheel well.
Would I just have to buy Technic's harness and a mono amp of some sort? Would appreciate some help. Last edited by zoppp; 02-13-2016 at 07:17 PM.. |
