I dont expect them to replace my Downpipes for example. in general they have a good idea about what usually goes wrong with these cars, so you should not have issues getting coverage. Also, generally warranties offered through financial institutions are better and less likely to deny coverage.

With the N54, especially early models I strongly recommend getting an aftermarket warranty. The warranty will most likely pay for itself, especially if you dont have complete records, and some big ticket items have not been addressed.
I agree the aftermarket warranty is a must for these cars... spent 3k on mine and so far I have had well over 12k of repairs!

Can anyone answer the following?
Will a fmic void an aftermarket warranty?
Will DP void an aftermarket warranty?

I've seen mixed stories with DPs, but nothing on fmic.

I doubt that a dealership or warranty company could prove a FMIC caused a problem, except in concert with a tune or piggyback.

A DP, however, by definition interferes with the pollution-control equipment and turbo circulation. Depending upon the problem, they could well refuse coverage.

Can anybody suggest me the best dual-flush toilet?

Our toilet was having problems flushing and finally an overflow prompted us to redo the entire bathroom. I really wanted a dual-flush toilet for the 1/2 bath, but our contractor said we couldn't have one with a skirt, so I couldn't get the Toto I had been eyeing. Can anyone suggest me the best one?

A lot of work you may need (regarding the leaking valve covers and oil pans) are not that bad, as i do more at the shop ill post quick how-to's. While I know they are out there, new ones people don't need to search for can be useful.
Other than that, keep track of what you have done to your car and what happened during when something started acting up, and a side shop (like a BMW specialty shop) will like it more. It's like going to the doctors, if you don't tell the whole truth it can be a bigger issue and cost more at the shop.
We just had a kid bring his car in for diag after doing a good amount of work, but didn't tell us the full truth about what had been done to the car, so more time was wasted because we went into it blind.
If you have more money than knowledge in working on these an aftermarket warranty is nice, but if you get down and dirty working on your bimmer (and do the work properly ) then I'd recommend doing that.
