Oops, forgot to note that you will get an error with the above procedure if you do not have a D73N57C0.SIM file in EDIABAS, but just click 'OK' and all will be fine. BTW, if anyone has one of those SIM files, I could use one

OK, there seems to be a lot of information about 335 gearbox GS19. Basically everything you can see in INPA can be logged with TestO.
I don't know much about automatic transmission and don'''t know what is relevant. But I could find at least following information: - lots of different adaptations data - status of solenoid valves (1-4, on/off) - status of EDS (Must be Elektrik Druck Steller - electric pressure regulator?) - turbine speed - gearbox oil temp. - engine torque (actual/requested) - pedal position - wheel speed avg. - current gear (1-6,7 is Reverse) - wanderkupplung - what is that ? clutch yes, but which one ![]() 0=offen 1=geregelt 2=geschlossen - Abtriebsdrehzahl - gearbox output speed |

Transmission Documents
Pheno, tuning an automatic typically involves the manipulation of line pressure and overlap periods for the engagement of clutches and/or bands. If we can find the duty cycle of the solenoids combined with input output rpm that would seem to be the key to logging. The image below shows the basics.
For anyone else interested, I also have attached some reference documents that explain the operation and illustrate the working parts. |

EDIT: had some extra time and added gauges for 'custom job #4' values found in the latest TestO version (20-Feb-2014). First start the job and then gauge. This should be made more user-friendly and hopefully it soon is ![]() Last edited by pheno; 02-21-2015 at 02:17 AM.. |

Thank you, good call. I just logged many parameters in that today and had a good overview of what was going on. Still having trouble finding the PWM stuff for the solenoids. I have a sneaking suspicion it is all in the adaption parameters. The sheer number of them and the fact that they are organized in arrays makes me think of tuning maps.

Output speed of the torque converter and Output speed of the transmission. The image below shows those 3 (can you tell where the wheelspin is?), the gear status and a shifting status parameter. |

Maybe it could be at #37 and #73 because you're on first gear and RPM rises and then falls a little ? ![]() |

I am working in the dark here, so I really appreciate the hints. Anything else? Wondering what controls the overlap during shifts. I can certainly see the STAT_SA-WERT corresponds to the various transitions up and down the gears, but what determines the duration of that state? Hmm... |

Hey folks, Pheno and I have been working on some enhancements (I have ideas and he does the hard work - it's a totally unfair situation ). Some of those enhancements should be coming out shortly, such as:
-Graphical playback of logging -Small installation package that includes only required EDIABAS elements -Calculated 'gauges' like Horsepower and Torque, Brake Specific Fuel Consumption, ect. Essentially, road dyno. We were thinking it might be best to start a new thread or may be even a sticky, so that everything can be found in one place. That would include tutorials and sample videos. What's the best way to make this available to anyone who wants to try Testo out or learn more, without searching throught the posts? And does anyone care? Personally, I think it would be good to start a new thread like a DIY. The first post describing what you can do, the tools, setup, things to watch out for, etc. Then maybe a step by step on how to configure something and straightforward so people understand the approach. From there it could be specific questions/requests. This thread should be referenced in the first post.
Something like this would be extremely helpful and could/should be a sticky Or something to make it easy to find. I haven't used the app yet but plan on giving it a go. But sounds like a lot of work to make things easier for the rest of us. |

Isn't that the nature of progress? But really, if you get to work with a guy like Pheno, it's fun. Thanks for the feedback. We appreciate it.
