Really sorry to hear that mate. And its really sad seeing those pics, i know how hard you worked to make your car what it was. But at least you are all ok right?

It looks like you went head on into the barriers? Whats insurance saying?

Yea the car did it's job I managed to get straight out of the car, no major injuries just the odd ache, cuts n bruises. All the airbags deployed which I think saved us at a full 70 mph impact.

The way he hit me sent me straight forward into the barrier then I span a few times againg collided the barrier.

He's accepted all liability and they've assessed the car so i'm just waiting for my cheque.

Frustrated and gutted, like you said all the time and effort lost

At least your insurance is ok!

Any idea of what you will get. A 335D?

On another note i can't decide what my next mod will be. Shall i get full M3 arms (front and rear) and solid subframe bushes fitted, or an LSD. Anyone care to share what they think?

Do it all at once.

Get m3 front and rear and as you are getting the rear.. get the m3 rear diff... Just get the prop made up.

BOOOM

I suppose i could, but it would be a lot of info to take in to ensure i have everything, and i don't think my current dampers would fit.

But i might have a read up of some old threads about the M3 diff. But i suppose you have to have the m3 rear subframe fitted for that?

With your power I'd probably go for the lsd, then the m3 arms and arbs. That's my opinion mate, if you were doing it step by step.

I'm not sure what to get next, like mark said he keeps trying to get me to buy his but I need a 4 door for the kiddies.

I don't know if I want a change, or do I stick to what I know?? I've been looking at EVO'S :/

Still undecided, and another option had come up. The M Performance brakes for the F30. Bigger discs and 4 piston bremno calipers up front and 2 on the rear. £1200 delivered for the front discs and calipers, and rear calipers. Stock 335 disc can be used.

So have 3 choices:

1) M3 arms and solid bushes
2) lsd
3) f30 brakes

Think i might try a dry trackday and see how the stock brake system performs like with uprated pads before i choose an option.

I think you should get a 4 door mate esp if you have kids. I have one child, dunno what im gonna do when the second comes lol

^^ Good to see parenting doesn't change the need to mod

I thought you had a Quaife LSD installed already?

The M3 rear subframe mounts on my E90 made the rear end feel really 'harsh'. Didn't bother me at the time but not sure if it's great for passenger comfort...If that's at all important

Your save on labour getting the LSD and rear bushes/anti roll bar installed, since the rear subframe has to be dropped for all of items.

Glad to see you walked away. For all the moaning people do about the added weight of new cars compared to the older machines, when you see the damage the new cars can absorb it's quite reassuring.

That is a pretty serious collision yet the doors look like they open & close like normal? No intrusion into the cabin too? I am super impressed but equally very sorry for your loss. Hope it all works out bud.

Haha, perhaps when he grows up a bit i might stop! To be honest i did try stopping for a while, but after taking the car to the track i got the itch back.

Unfortunately i'm still on the stock open diff. At the mo its just out of reach financially, due to mine being welded, but i'm sure prices will come down a bit in 2016.

I remember what you said about the bushes, but comfort isn't the primary aim, and i'm hoping it will be ok for me, as the dampers should still ensure its relatively comfy. I'm atually going for solid AKG bushes, so it will be interesting to know if this theory holds true.

I'm going to leave the anti roll bars for now. I know i can save on labour but don't want to spend any more yet.

Think the next step will be to get the arms and bushes installed, then take it to Bedford with the new dedicated track pads. Then depending on my feeling i will either mod the brakes or get the LSD.

Thanks for all your kind words guys, it is definitely a safe car to be in! Anything cheaper or smaller than mine and it might have been a different story.😇

Very pleased for you that the car did what it should. All too often you can see these collisions go a very different way. You just look forward to the next project to get stuck into.

Going to a track day was a very big mistake lol. One, it is addictive as you've found buddy and two it shows up the weak areas which then gives you the bug back to mod again to sort it to where you now know it could be.

I think you are on the right track for sure. Getting the arms and bushes done will make a big difference and although long term it may cost more it is better to do it in stages and decide if other mods are required than just doing the lot in one go and not really knowing which actually made the difference for you.

I don't think you'll find the bushes to have too much of a detrimental effect on the harshness as the Ohlins will help to negate some of that.

9 and 7, wow you really are doing well to mod as well as having two children. I hope im the same when i reach that stage! And yep, i think there is more money wasting to come in 2016, all due to going to track days and modding lol

I hope you're right re the bushes. Thats my theory too.

On another note, the m3 arms have arrived, and like everyone else i can also see the area where they have ground off the M logo. Can't wait to get it all fitted.

Tom: F30 335D looks very fast. Only things i don't like are the tiny exhaust tips (i think they are single now??) and generally the rear end. Also the electronic steering will feel a lot different. Have a few test drives before you decide mate.
