I called Fremont at approximately 3pm and 6pm and they said my car is not in the system yet and the lady did not know if the truck arrived. Looks like a Thu pickup for me.

I don't think you should put too much faith in what the dealer folks says - it sounds like they are all trained to say the same thing independent of any real knowledge.
Unless there is something extra going on with your car, the VPC should prioritize yours before it works the new ones that come in.
I just did my morning check, and it's still not released. There was no damage when I dropped it off, but it could have incurred some during transit. The dealer person has been pretty useless as a resource, but I do feel bad for calling Waggoneer's so often. If the dealer would just give me a status of what's going on, I probably wouldn't be so wound up about it.

Are you and garyh euro deliveries? I am wondering how much longer euro deliveries are taking in customs/vdc these days. Last summer, it was taking three weeks just to get through those two processes.

Spn, our car is an ED. I dropped off in Paris on Dec 21st, and it took almost five weeks to get on a boat. As for the time after it arrived at the port - it took only 3 days to clear customs/dept of of ag, and it’s been in the VPC since Thursday (four days). On the two boats that arrived in January that I tracked, cars were getting from port to dealer in 6-14 days.

Called for another status update from Wagoneer and my car still hasn't arrived at the dealership. They said it should arrive today. I thought it only took a day to make their rounds. I guess not.

Lance, I hope your car is not damaged. I'm sure it'll make its way up on the next truck to the bay. I really hope you get your car this weekend.

I too called up Wagoneer for an update, and again the same old reply ... Not yet released ! (Mine was on AL and its an ED). Today is the 9th day since the ship arrived. I am so depressed by the thought that I wont have my car for this weekend too ...

Finally….I’m making progress! I called the ED department today to see if they could give me more information, as the guy at the dealer is useless. They told me that my car had been released today, and it should be making it’s way to the dealer soon. I then called the good folks at Waggoneer’s, who I think actually know me by now, and they said they’d try to get it on one of the next trucks out.

I might make that weekend trip in the new car after all.

Hey Lance, is this Wagoneer trucking company responsible for transportation to both bay area and LA area? And which number did you call to reach the ED dept? I am getting restless

Woot! My CA called me at noon. I didn't realize it until about 3:20pm. I called him back and he says my car is here.. so I can either pick it up tonight or tommorrow... Finally! Lance, i hope everything goes smoothly for you!

Some stats:

1/12/08 SAT: Dropped off in Germany/Garching/Harms
1/22/08 TUE: AL departed port in Germany
2/18/08 MON: AL docked at PH
2/20/08 WED: First nonED car at dealership
2/27/08 WED: My car at dealership (ED car)

Total of 6 weeks from drop off at harms to my dealership. Not bad considering the idle period between 1/12 and 1/22.

Sorry, that yours is taking so long Bimmer V. The number for BMW’s main ED department is (800) 932-0831. I know that they can see when your ticket is opened and closed in the VPC, but I’m not sure if they can see what is actually on the ticket. Good luck!

Found out this morning that my car was dropped at the dealer at 8 pm last night (Tuesday night).

Some (more) stats:
Picked up in Germany: 12/14/07
Dropped in Madrid Spain: 12/21/07
1/22/08 TUE: AL departed port in Germany
2/18/08 MON: AL docked at PH
2/26/08 TUES: My car at dealership (ED car)

When I return to the bay area on Friday, I expect to go directly to the dealer and get my car (~ 4 pm on Friday).

Interestingly, while the truck was driving north, I was flying to south to LA, crossing paths somewhere along the way!

I hope the rest that are waiting get good news soon.

Nice, 8 days is a record so far for the short time I've been following the delivery thread.

Couldn't wait and picked up the car tonight!

When I left the car at Harms, my avg mpg was 26. They (whoever they are) added about 7 miles to the car since then and my avg mpg at pick up was 23.7. I drove about 90 miles tonight and got it back up to 24.7mpg .

The dealer got the car at 302 miles and when I picked it up it had 304 miles. I assume someone wanted to take my car for a test drive at the dealer and I'm sure the extra 7 miles since drop off at Garching/Harms was not gentle or it could have included the car being idle for some time (who knows?!).

That doesn't bother me too much. What bother me was there are swirl marks all over my jet black car. I pointed it out to someone at the dealership and he start rubbing it which made it even worse . So, request your car NOT be washed. I wanted a clean car when I picked it up. I paint cars as a hobby so this bugs me and it's a mistake that I will always regret as I can see paint and clear coat flaws others can't seem to see. I can almost always tell when a car has been repainted even when most people say, "it looks original to me."

If you guys need a CA, I can recommend mine. He's a great guy and I would use him again without hesitation. He waited for me until I got there at about 7:40pm. I work quite aways from the dealership. PM me if anyone is interested in using my CA.

The tail light on the 2008 does look different for some reason. I followed my car from my commuter car and noticed the rear lights are slick - it's just 3 thin lines going across the middle of the tailights. Hit the brakes or use the turn signals and a block of lights below or above the main center strip of thin lights will flash. Never noticed it before on the 335i's. Maybe it's a 2008 thing?

Attach is an iPhone image of my car. iPhones don't take very good pictures, but you get the idea .

As of this posting, BMW circle says my car is still at VPC!

Thanks Lance. When I called the ED dept at (800) 932-0831, they told me that my car was released to the trucking company on 2/26 and it takes 48 hours for them to load it on to the truck to be sent to the dealer. I guess, its already 48 hrs from 2/26. So, I think I can now expect it by this weekend... Atleast some ray of hope for me

She's beautiful, Gary. LOVE the euro plate. Mine sits on my bookshelf in my office and brings back great memories.

spn: thank you! I think I will leave the euro plates on. I wanted to take it off because I don't want to be perceived as pretentious, but I like it so much I'm leaving it on. I hope I don't get pulled over.

bimmer_v: waiting for pictures .

I tried parking the car into my garage yesterday and it stuck out about 6-12 inches so I couldn't close the rolling garage door. Might have to move the car in front of it outside .

I just picked up my car at 4 pm tonight and it now sits comfortably in the garage.
Finally!!!! And it is so nice to get the engine revving! The sun was out and the top was down - now I just need to activate Sirius.

So now is everyone set? Lance?

I picked mine up tonight! I literally got it just in time for our trip tomorrow. Thanks to all of you for dealing with my rants while I tried to deal with the wait, and I hope you're enjoying your new cars.
