I did call them not that long ago and they said they have it finalized.

i have a z4 2.5si and this sounds perfect to me, do you know what would i need to get near 3.0si power?is it doable?if it is, youd found the solution to all the problems of the forgotten 2.5si pple as i would gladly do a step by step DIY. thanks man

What engine do you have? N52B30? Or N52B25? You need the 3L engine. It sounds like you might even have an M54.

i realized mine is a 2.5 producing like 218 so no hopes of a big improvement, unless i can get the parts to make it a 3.0 theorically as im sure both engines share a big deal of parts, what would i need to make mine a 3.0si? i was checking ebay and it looks like i can get a used one for like 3000 bucks but just the engine

I’m back to square one with my conversion (actually square two since I have the intake manifold). A guy convinced me that he can load 330i software into my ECU. Unfortunately I fell for it and the car lost power. Then I went to Forstern in Germany for Wintertuning. Winter told me that he can fix it and tune it to 274 hp. He downloaded my software to his notebook and send it to another guy in Frankfurt. The guy modified the software and send it back to Winter. Unfortunately they didn’t fix anything and the car ran shitty as before. I had to go to BMW for re-load of the original software. The car has its torque back but I still want at least 270 hp. Now I’m going to try DS Motorsport in Freudenberg.

so anybody that has put this 3 stage manifold on their car, which wire goes where, I have the 2 wires that are on the side of the old 1 stage intake manifold and need to know which actuator to plug them into the 3 stage intake manifold.
basically which wire goes into the high speed actuator and which wire goes into the low speed actuator |

From what I gather, those wires go to the cam position sensor and the valve control modules will open the valves at the correct rpm regardless of which plug you use. Those pluges, in essence, give the valves rpm info.

ahhh i see so each wire is giving power and rpm data and the actuator has rpm data hard wired into it to open at the certain rpm. so one will open at its own pre-determined rpm....
cool thanks man! |

I haven't confirmed it but you can try it. If you have the valves then you can plug them and rev the engine.

I just confirmed that this is NOT correct. I have both the small and large DISA valves in my possession, and just tested the wires a few minutes ago. One of the wires is a low signal wire, and one is a high rpm signal wire. I connected both valves to the same wire, and they both opened at 2800rpm or so. I then switched to the other wire, and both valves opened at like 4500 rpm. So yes, the wires make a difference. If you swap them, the wrong valve will open up in the midrange, and probably cause a power loss. EDIT: this image posted by issabmw shows which wire is which Last edited by mike-y; 10-24-2010 at 11:45 PM.. |

Good to know. I do know the the can't put the DISA valves in the wong hole. One is much larger than the other.

yeah, the big disa valve goes right above the throttle body, you can't mix them up. Also, one of the wires is a lot shorter than the other, so it would be hard to mix them up. The short wire goes to the big valve, right next to the throttle body.

Any pics of this manifold off the car? Any airway pathway photos? How hard is the install of the manifold and needed wiring and anything else?
Will this manifold swap work on '07 328 N52 motors? Thanks. |

I've got two of them right now. they look like this from the side where the throttle body attaches. The top looks the same as what you see when you open the hood of your car.
Actual removal and installation shouldn't be that difficult, you can access everything from the top of the engine bay. Might also be a good idea to change the spark plugs while I'm in there, I just need to find the time to do it. |

The manifold fits 328s and there is tuning available. There's a parts list in the first post. The wiring you need already exists on the car. It just plugs in.

Hey all, good project. I just got a 328xiT 6MT and I'm looking at some options... this looks promising! Coming from an e46 M3 has me wanting a bit more power, and I sure wish that NA would get the 335i Touring, but no such luck.
Anyway, from my brief look over this thread, it seems that even after the mani swap and 330i performance tune, the power level is not quite up to stock 330i levels, is this correct? Obviously there are other differences. Do we know what these are? Exhaust? How about fuel pressure? Head? Is the block/head really identical on all N52 engines? Keep up the good work all ... I might join you in experimenting at some point, but I need to learn a bit about the e9x stills (I come from a racing background, but only built e36 and e46 race cars). |

Ummm... No you're wrong. 18% of 210 is 37.8. Ok now seriously. You need you calculate drivetrain loss from the crank HP value which I dont have. So let's do a little algebra.
Let x = Crank HP value. Let y = WHP value. At 18% y = .82x in other words WHP is 82% of crank HP. (100-18=82) We know from the dyno that y=210 So 210 = .82x Now, divide both sides by .82 Now 210/.82 = x So x = 256 hp A similar method can be used to calculate torque. Just letting you know. ![]()
