I've been thinking about the $150 additional VIN, and I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Two approaches to making piggyback tunes are 1) less expensive hardware that is upgraded occasionally for a fee, or 2) more advanced hardware that can handle years of upgraded firmware, and new firmware is provided for free. However, to pay for the development of firmware there is an additional VIN fee for the new user. I like option number two better, since I get the best hardware and access to free firmware upgrades. While I take a hit on resale from one standpoint, because of the VIN fee, I have better resale because my hardware can run the latest maps. Sort of an even trade. Maybe I missed something, but that's how I'm thinking about it.

Shiv,

I understand that the older Procedes which run v4 can go v5, which locks the vin, then back to v4 and be marketable to everyone vin unlocked in v4 mode...

If i get a "new" procede which comes with v5, can it be reverted back to v4 and used with any vehicle in a similar fashion or is it pigeon holed (for lack of a better term) into running v5 forever?

so with the basic kit I will have map0 and map1 only and as I add mods to my car (Downpipe for example) the unit will autotune and provide higher HP/TQ figures?

I already have a full exhaust and AA FMIC so essentially the procede on my car will NOT feel the same as a procede on a stock 335i both on map1 right?

Thanks!

I really like this and could take the plunge finally - Great price point, awesome tune, not paying for stuff I won't need like meth, and unequaled set of add-on features.

So are all of the features in this 100% compatible with pre 29.2 software versions?

So let me get this right...if I buy a V5 and put it in my Z4 35is it will work straight out of the box with the autotuning feature overriding the extra boost BMW gave the 35is - no need for custom maps etc?

But if I wanted to improve the DCT response then a custom map will be needed?

Correct on both accounts. Autotuning completely eliminates the need to have more than 1 map. The only reason you would want to extra map options is if you run nitrous, methanol or want a naturally aspirated (no boost) map. The $645 Procede Enthusiast is more than 95% of all users will ever need.

100% correct.

Nope. We have DCT maps read to go. Nothing to custom tune or tweak.

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply. I´m sold on this kit then... and then when I add meth later on I can just purchase the $50 option map and the no boost one as well cool

I've been modifying every car I've had for years and I have always sold what I could when I was done. You will take a loss but this just makes it worse and for what? So he can make another $150 and you don't? He wants to justify it by saying they could just downgrade to v4 if they wanted but that isn't what he has advertised for this product up till now.
Wow... Ok. I'm only up to page 5 or 6 or so... But WOW...

He also never advertised V5 before !!!

All of you whining need to get over it !!!!

All of you bitching about $150 less on resale better be parking out in the sticks in every parking lot to avoid every door ding / scratch.... Better be washing/waxing regularly.... Better have put a clear bra on from day 1 .... Better not ever drive fast and put wear on the tires or get bad mileage.... There are so many things that will decrease the value of the car by, or cost you, far more than 150...

AND as stated many times already ... V4 with all current features will remain unlocked !!!!!!!!

I also hope that all of you that expect to take your tune out and sell it separately from the car plan to disclose that it was used with a tune for xx,xxx miles... If you don't that is a real problem...and actually dishonest.

40-50k car and botching and 150 IF you take advantage if new features AND plan on reselling AND the buyer wants the new features too... Perhaps you couldn't afford the car to start with !

And of course there are other differences. I am buying a tune in the next month so I want to make sure I am not missing anything major. I am the basic user that will not do a custom tune or add meth. Maybe DP's and exhaust and DCI. So from what I gather, I can expect pretty much the same power gains but smoother power delivery from the Procede? And it seems as clearing code capability is there and that the install is also very simple. If all this is correct, then I am in!
+100

that was the questions i was wondering to ask, so it really good to have only for 645 and later u can install all mods, dps, exhaust, fmic, dci, upgraded turbos and autotune adapts to all that

Since the new V5 will not have a DP fix included will a BMS DP fix work in unison with the V5?
