I strongly recommend going to multi watch brand dealers as they have power to move on prices unlike the Tag store themselves. I haven't gone to there outlet as i personally wouldn't want old or discontinued watches.

If you do go to the store i mentioned above you can further your discount by telling them you work in the centre. Just choose a random store and stick by your guns
+1. Btw the old lady wasn't very friendly when I asked her if she could match closer to US prices

That was months ago when I asked about a Rolex DSSD or Omega Planet Ocean, guess they have less legroom to negotiate on those. She had an AD price on the watch but refused to tell me what her price would be when told her was looking at closer to US prices. Think I had a US price list with me more for watch reference numbers rather than prices but she took it that I had made up my mind about buying from the US.

Attila Aszodi custom made strap for my vintage 1680 red, is awesome leather, would highly recommend it and the guy can design anything you throw at him!

Wow, that feet-first red sub is very nice. Looks almost brand new- not bad for a 30 y/o watch. Maybe it's had a recent overhaul/service? The crystal/dial looks pristine. Interesting strap too- you can show off the interlug engravings

Very nice mate.

I'm a watch fanatic. Definitely an expensive hobby!

Edit: I just flicked back one page and saw more photos, complete with box/papers! OMG! I'm speechless! That's a very rare find indeed. Congrats!

Thanks mate. Yupz had a recent movement service and a slight polish, left everything original to the watch as was in 1973-74 when it dates to. Surprising not much has changed with modern subs looks wise over all that time, well, except for that top hat acrylic crystal and the tritium. Nice to know you're into watches.

What's your budget? If it was me I'd get an IWC worth 10k. For around 3K a Baume and Mercier would be my choice. Both are simple and elegant.

20~25k

SBC recomended taking a look at IWC a while back and i did. Liked the designs, very contemporary and slightly understated.
But im set on a rolex, I plan on spending this much money on a watch and i want to be able to wear it for 10 years without wanting to upgrade so hence the decision to get a rolex and not a tag carrera or another omega of sorts

Half gold and stainless with black facade is the best (the one i posted a pic of in this thread), should cost no more then 10k with minimal negotiation. Your 20-25k budget goes into buying full gold Rolex's, do you want full gold?

Nah I'd go the blue face just to be different.

I want a submariner with diamonds instead of roman numerals/glow in the dark hour spots and that pushes prices from 13k to 18k hence my budget.
I havent done any watch reading in a while, will make a trip to a few outlets next week when exams are over to see if any limited editions are out.

Personally I would never wear a watch with diamonds and gold. It's too gaudy.
