Looks like he figured out what was going on with the 07's and some users having problems changing maps!

As far as them responding...you're probably better off PMing them, but I'll send a text to Rob about it.

Just an update, I tested v2.0.2 standard maps today and I have to say I prefer this throttle mapping setup over the v2 version. I haven't tried the v1 version yet and I don't think I need to. With the awesome new p3 gauge I can actually see how throttle behaves with my foot going down and feel how the car reacts to it. With v2 throttle mapping the power starts to kick in at around 35% throttle, with standard map power kicks in just like stock at around 20% throttle...love the new p3 gauge...

I've also datalogged a bunch of times and can say with confidence that the only time throttle closures will happen is 1) tune is still adapting 2) traction loss

Once the car is better adapted, which takes a few pulls, and you have full traction there are no more throttle closures unless you lose traction. BMW traction control logic is to limit load by limiting boost and this is pretty obvious from Cobb datalogs.

Point is don't be worried about throttle closures, works as intended. Way easier and faster to move the throttle blade to control load then to solely depend on controlling wastegates.

By the way even with other tunes and traction loss you'll see throttle closures

From what he explained to me, there are points where his code is telling the modules in the car to stop/start talking. For whatever reason, at the end of flashing, on some of the 07 cars, it was very picky and they would not like the code to stop/start talking causing errors. He edited some code out or added a delay and it now works as intended. I just flashed a few times (he flashed a gazillion, uninstall, install, ect), no problems.

I agree with you. I finally got to try out the v2 maps, and I hated it. It feels so slow and I feel like I'm mashing the gas pedal down all the way for it to start going. I can control the STD maps much better, although I think something in between the two would be a lot better.

Yeah the v2 maps according to my p3 gauge seem to require about 30-35% throttle input before power is being delivered, not all the way down on throttle, but I can see this being a very comfortable/easy daily driving map for some ppl...not for me though, prefer the standard map and the throttle response there as that's what I'm used to

I did some more testing on the 2.02 STD map. With or without traction control fully off, the same deal: throttle closures. Not as severe as before, but still throttle closures.

So either I have freak motor (highly unlikely), or Cobb needs to figure this one out, which I am sure they will!

I can't wait for Stage 2. Maybe then my car will stop slamming the damn throttle shut when I romp on the gas pedal.

So weird, I have almost none! the tune just works so right i'm really stoked mainly because it took me totally by surprise...

I now have the p3 gauge and I have to say its awesome...for the first time I have live insight into EGTs on this car...i know these are post-turbo EGTs but at least I get a sense of what they are...for pre-turbo you can typically add 200F and in most cases you'd be not too far off the pre-turbo EGT numbers...on top of that, given that the car's DME also uses the EGT numbers off your front widebands I say if its good enough for that its ok for me

the new p3 gauge is a total win! go Rixst3r

I love the new P3 gauge too. I have one too. It is nice to be able to monitor stuff but I would not call it perfect because:

* You can't shut off the display while you are driving. You need to shut off the engine to do this.
* The OBD2 port is now occupied. I can't plug in my COBB unit/BavTool to do logging or maintenance. Yes there are splitters you can use, but ultimately, it would be nice to have a kit which connects to the CAN bus a-la piggy back style connectors.
* Other minor design issues which are really not important.

Anyway, back on topic: there are throttle closures with or without traction control off, just less severe.

Now, I've been wondering if COBB would be able to create a (race/track) map with disables traction control by default, making it persistent between engine restarts. THAT my fellow brethren would be awesome on so many levels... I am currently researching to see if this is possible via coding.

Yeah coming from a Procede I really loved the DIC map throttle mapping towards the end before I sold it. I think the throttle mapping will continue to evolve, just like it did with the Procede and other tunes. I'm confident they will get it eventually.

With that being said, I think they are close to being done w/ 07 beta and once that goes into official release, Stage 2 will be coming out shortly. Can't wait!

I guess it disabling traction control by default should be an option...in my case I wouldn't want it disabled by default but that's me..

Did you not try the obd-2 cable splitter thingy?

Really starting to wonder what the car dynos with cobb stg 1 with these RBs as its pretty strong...with the procede and 16psi at around 6k rpm (where peak power was) it did 450whp on pump 94...i think it should be at just over 400whp pump gas with the cobb stg1 as it runs around 13psi at 6k rpm, hmmmm...

07 335i here. No issues with my Cobb tune at all. It's perfect.

Wonder when that stage 2 is coming out. I can wait patiently, but curious if they have a timeline of when they expect to release it.

As others has stated previously, they have been rather quiet for a while. Hope they don't have time for forums because they are working hard at stage 2 and ATR.

There's no timeline. Their #1 priority right now is to finish up 07 support and to get that out of beta. From a business standpoint that's their #1 concern, as you can imagine there are probably more 07's willing to tune than any of the other years ATM.

I talked to Rob the other day about Stage 2. It's progressing with good power...just needs to be harnessed to be drivable.
