@MaximusJ
Do you know if we can get the AA tune locally near Montréal? I have the BMW PE and PI. Planning to do the 330i intake manifold swap nest spring then the AA tune. My car is a 2011 328xi. Thank you |

You can, and you can't; both at the same time.
Bimmershop and Toy'z Auto Art are offering it, but I was amazed to see how those guys run their business. Bimmershop : I contact them about the tune; Me: Got a flash station for the AA perf. soft, on my e90? Also, do you know if the 3 stage intake manifold requires a special tweak of the tune? Them: sure, we can do that for you! But we offer the BMS Powerbox tune instead since it will give better results on your car. As for the intake, I would suggest aFe products instead. ME: What? Do you even realize we're not even talking about the same thing? Arent you a AA retailer? And an Intake manifold is not an air filter btw! And calling the pbx a tune is a joke. Them: Hun; since you seems to know everything, good luck finding your answer on the internet smart ass! There's nothing that you'll find that will replace our experience. I was like...what just happened? I Lol'd and forgot about them. Then I had a chat with AA directly, who told me about the other retailer; Toyz auto-art. AA even had a promotion for bimmerfest east and they told me to ask Toyz to make me the same deal and they'll catch up with AA later. They even gave me a name and number for them at AA to call if there was anything. ME: Same kind of contact I made with Bimmershop. But this time, I already met the owner; which I was speaking to. And said : I dont know if you remember me, but we met a couple years ago in the VIP section of the DMCC drift series in St-Eustache. You even let me sit in your red Z06 SC Corvette. Him: Cant recall. The job is taking 2 hours, I dont really see what kind of rebate we can do. ME: Call that guy, he's gonna explain how to proceed for me to have that special pricing; I dont think your markup will be affected. Him: I dont really have time to call them. ME: Fine, i'll have them call you. (Hung up... What a douche?) Several emails were sent to Toyz with AA in copy and they never responded. Then AA apologized for the service their resellers give and made me an offer I couldnt refuse. But that entailed that I would have to send in my ECU in Miami. Which I did. Its a week without an ECU, but its worth it. I didnt knew them by the time, but If I would have to do it again, I would plan myself a trip to Toronto and go see Jon@Bimmersport automotive. This guy seems to know about every bits and bolts on our cars. Never met him personally, but the way he answers my questions and explains me everything (not only giving the answer) makes me want to give those guys some business because they know what they're doing. Hope that helped. I would lose my time with those two shops if I were you. I lost like 3 months waiting about a local solution before I finally decided to send the ECU. This project would had been supposed to be done since may. LOL

Met Jon in person before this thread and he is definately a great guy to deal with. I am hoping to use his service for the AA tune when I get the manifold installed.

OK, parts are here ready for install.
So how long will this take? Which motor is which? Is the one on the backside the low speed and the one on the throttle body side the high speed? |

This is the low pressure DISA actuator :
This is the high pressure DISA actuator : On the manifold, you cant interchange them if I remember correctly.

I followed that too and didnt waste too much time with it.
But I tried switching them just to see what kind of christmas tree I would get on my cluster; and got none. Looks like they're getting the same signal and each actuator activate when the received signal match their spec and they open at the given RPM I guess. Looks like they were working both ways for me.

no, each wire sends a different rpm signal. one is low rpm and one is high rpm. you can grab one of the disa motors and plug it in to one of the wires, and just set it on top of the stock intake manifold with the hood open. then start the car and rev the motor. note the rpm where the motor opens, and then mark it with some tape.
I think one of the wires is longer tho, so it is kinda obvious which one goes where. |

You know what sucks. Order the manifold from a company. Ask if it comes with everything. Get told yes. Manifold arrives missing actuators. Call back and they state normally they dont sell the package and items are seperate. Company states they will make right and send actuators. Wait another 2 weeks (Over a month waiting now). Call back they state they forgot to ship and will ASAP. I state I will pay for overnight shipping. Nothing arrives for 3 days. I call back...They lost the actuators.
Person stated if they cant find them they will offer a refund |

No need since they already offered the refund. The disputes are to be open only when all else fails.
This is the main reason why i've decided to order brand new from Tischer. I contacted a couple auto recycling parts and nobody could confirm that the actuators were coming with the manifold. And the only place that cared to verify did not even know what I was talking about.

You need to definately have them take pictures and send it to you prior to placing the order.
I am getting my used set today and I made sure they sent pictures of the part so I could verify (prior to purchase). You know you are dealing with the right people when they honor customers request (all the other auto wreckers didn't bother to get the additional info). Getting my parts today from UPS :-) Super excited. |

DESI: Great news. Are you installing it by yourself?
I'm leaving for Orlando in a couple hours, but if you run into some installation issues, drop me a PM and i'll try to help the best I can.

Thanks Maximus. Enjoy your trip.
I will be diy'ing this but not for a few weeks. I need to get a baseline dyno first. Hope everything runs smoothly. I wonder how Cobra's installation is going and if he is feeling something. |

I'm gonna bite the bullet on this one too. Gonna buy the parts new from Tischer. I probably won't start for another month or two, as I still have some basic maintenance that the car needs before this is implemented.
Fortunately this gives me plenty of time to familiarize myself with the DIY procedures.

I did some extra research after I ordered, the one main difference between the 325 and the 328 for this install is the vent hose. The vent hose that everyone is ordering (myself included ) leads to the crankcase ventilation/oil separator that the 328 does not have. So if you have a 328, you don't need to order this part. I haven't looked in there personally just yet, I'm just basing this off of what realoem is showing. I could be wrong.

Yea I actually looked at my 328 vent hose and although it does not have the oil separator, there is a connector in place to connect the vent hose to the crank hose. So it can probably be used as I can see that part is in 2 pieces.
I will be installing mines in a few months actually. Winter is not too far away and I rather get this done late winter/early spring. I am working with a tuner to see if we can get another tune out for this. They need some time as well to dyno this mod. |

What kind of gains are you expecting from the manifold swap? I also have a 07 328i and with it I have an AA tune and i personally don't feel like it is enough. I feel as if the trottle response on the tune is not enough and I'm debating on throughing on the bms tune just for the trottle remapping or jumping the gun and getting the swap, if it is worth it. what do you or any other member things about this Thankx |
