Hey 15 year old kid and all other sub-20 year old people. If you don't want the comments and criticsms, don't mention your damn age. You're just asking for it. You have two other options, 1. leave the forum if you can't take the comments or 2. learn to put up with it.
I am 15 years old and I own a 335 coupe.

//M you are a slow learner but it's a good thing you guys aren't injured. Your car will obviously be repaired and I hope you don't make the same mistake again.

I am 19. Bottom line is even I am quite young to be driving this car. A 15 year old just does not have the experience with such a high performance car or any type of car for that matter! Period, end of story!

I won't comment on responsibility because that is relative to the individual in question (i.e., maturity for their age, some are more mature than others). Experience is something you either have or you don't - we're talking pure MAN HOURS behind the wheel here. Rational decisions with an inexperienced driver such as yourself don't come without first learning the mistake - then become wiser and preventing the error in the future.

I don't think I have to explain myself any further.

Hey ///M, glad to hear your okay and your car isn't in too bad shape. I got t-boned by a lady who ran a red light in my 330ci in January and got the car about about 2 months later.

Let me give you some advice on repairs and repainting. First, when you get your car back, don't sign anything releasing them from liability until you've COMPLETELY checked out the car. I know, once you get your car back, you'll have an itch to just get in the car and drive it since you love it so much, but you want to make sure EVERYTHING is done, and done correctly.

Second, ask the repair adviser get in the car with you and go for a drive, and pay attention to anything and everything.

Third, I'm not sure how much this applies since you just got the car, talk to your insurance company about loss in value if and when you sell your car. No matter HOW well a shop repairs a car, the evidence will be in thickness levels in the paint and people can also look it up on carfax. Getting in an accident like yours, no matter how well they fix it, will definitely drop the value of your car if and when you decide to sell it. Get your insurance company to cover as much of that loss as possible.

Hope all goes well with the repairs and your insurance company, and good luck!

Oh, you mean your parents own a E92 335i and are nice (stupid) enough to let you drive it?

Doug,

The car is under their name, but I am the owner.

It's offending to me that you are bashing me so blindly without even getting to know who I am. I bet you are a great guy and at first sight, this looks like another one of those "kids taking advantage of their parents" situation but I hope that you can see through that and respect me for the person that I am, not the things that I own.

Man all of you "grown ups" keep telling us kids to grow up.............well look at yourselves, you sit there and talk all this shit on us like a bunch of jelous little kids. If our parents have the money and feel that we deserve these cars then god damn so be it. Im sorry that we didnt have to bust our asses to get them but you know what we're busting out asses to get lambos and ferraris one day and other things on our own. We're all in school, we're all obvoulsy good kids, so wtf is all of your deals. I know ///Shaunt personally and the guy is obvioulsy responsible enough for a car like our 335's. Dont give him the "cant handle a car with that kinda power" talk....they're just 335's not ferrari 575's or something....its like 280 something to the wheels. And you know what, even a 3 year old kid knows how to gas and brake and turn, thats not what being able to drive means. Being a good driver is making good judgements.

If the car is under your father's/mother's name, it's not your car. The car is under their title, therefore, they own it. This is technically speaking.

With all of the posts getting made about younger people on this forum not being able to drive I have to finally say something. I tried not to get into the bickering but oh well.

I understand that most young drivers are inexperienced and do not know how to handle powerful cars. I myself drove my parents Navigator (around 180,000 miles on it at the time) for a year before I got my car. I was only allowed to use it when they did not need it. (If you learn on a car that big you can drive anything by the way lol.) That car was big and slow therefore I learned to respect its size. But then a year later I got my 330xi. I am very lucky to have my car and respect the "power" that it has. My dad was very hestitant when he helped me buy it because he thought it would be too powerful and I would be immature. This is a natural reaction to a younger person in this type of car. I was able to and have been very mature about my car and believe that I could be jsut as mature with a car that had more power. I have even driven Porsches and Ferraris with no such problem. However, I being 20, soon to turn 21, know that some people even at my age are not able to respect a more "powerful" car. But that does not mean that everyone cannot resepct a car like a BMW for the power that it has. I have let a few people I know drive my car, both my age and much older than I, and I have come to the conclusion that it is not a matter of age but maturity. Just because you are older does not mean that you are any more likely to respect that the "power" my car or a more powerful car has. (The reason I put power in quotes is because my car only has 225 hp and I feel that it is a reasonable amount, not overfully powerful but not 0-60 2 year accelration time.) Yes, experience does help, I am a true believer of this, but that does not mean people do not do stupid things when they are old either. Younger people are more likely to do this because we think we are unstoppable and are invincable. However, it is not fair to come to the conclusion that all of us are like this. Many of my friends have had Audi S4's, S2000's, Porsche 911's, etc and have been responsible and not gotten into any serious trouble other than a speeding ticket or two. However, how many older people do the same if not worse as younger people?

Two things to remind everyone of. Only criticize if criticism can be taken and what did/would most of you do if you were younger and had a powerful car? Moral of the story do not judge a book by its cover just because some are idiots. This applies to both younger and older members.

That is 100% correct.

I am just saying that I am the designated driver for this car. I didn't make the hard-earned money to pay for this car, yet I am the "owner". Again, I hope you guys can respect me for the things I say and do rather than what is given to me.

Don't sweat it man. I totalled a very nice 240Sx when I was in my early 20's and I was devistated 'cos it was my fault. I'm 40 now and I can almost look back and laugh at it, (I still have the pictures). If the reality of almost killing yourself and a passenger doesn't change your habits, the bill and the insurance process probably will. Just remember, cars can be replaced, but people can't, and at least it wasn't an Enzo. Cheers,

Crazy Canuck

The bill??? You really think the bills mean anything to him? He's got some rich mommy to pay for stuff. Even she tells him not to sweat this so much. My mom would have hung me if I nearly totalled a car at that age, any car, let alone a 335!! And it wouldnt be because of the money, but because of the lack or judgement and responsibility.
