Got some questions, does this improve 0-60 time, and does it affect mpg in a bad way, also how much would it cost for someone to do this

very lucky they voided my warranty when they found my meth line and that was it, everything was removed. They replaced my turbos and then hit me with a $2800 bill. I told them I did not authorize the repair since they voided my warranty and made them take the new turbos off and put my bad ones back on. That's when I got RB's and got another shop to do the work.

Maybe by .02 of a second. From what people are saying it does effect milage, but not in a bad way. While in drive it shifts at 1600 rpm and you'll be in 6th at 40 mph. Granted that is not ideal for some, but if want to be conservative it's a nice improvement over the stock drive.

This is not a big performance gain, but a more of a drivability improvement for those who what quicker shifts, no timing drops, better down shift rpm matching... I have also been told that DTC actually works much better after the flash, so if you track your car hard, using DTC mode now adds a great deal of stability without throttle closers and timing pulls. But that is what I have heard from others who have tracked after the flash.

This flash is night and day for AT owners. I definitely have had time to play with this flash and the performance gains may be minor for a daily driver, but for guys who enjoy track and especially auto x like me...this is the first time since purchasing my vehicle I've had FULL CONTROL. Your AT just feels one step closer to a DCT and the shift delays (especially downshift) are basically instant compare to the old AI that had to wait for your RPMs to drop safely before downshifting. In addition, paddle shifters no longer have the delay they use to have which was annoying having to shift early to predict the AI shifts. Dropping into a corner at optimal speed and power level is standard again - if you can drive. Makes you wonder why the flash didn't come stock. I would highly recommend this flash to any enthusiast

I was skeptic at first but hopeful. I would to personally thank Wedge. I hit him up and he hooked me up with the flash along with great hospitality and knowledge on cars.

Are you saying that there's an after market flash for the E60 guys that already have the "SAT" option? Paddles / console sport button, or did you just help a guy retrofit a SAT?

Depends on what transmission flash your car is running. He did a SAT retrofit a few years back and was on the standard transmission flash. I flashed him to Sport Transmission and according to him it was night and day. Everything works they way it should now. Mind you, I did this remotely so I didn't see it first hand, but if you don't have the sport flash, it is a nice optional upgrade.

Ah I see what you mean now. Users that already have the SAT package ( paddles ) on the E60's already have the built in Sport flash. Users that don't and perform the retrofit will need to perform the flash to get 100% of the functionality.

Dealership won't be flashing the EGS module for a HPFP change. If they did, I would take it back and make them fix it. They can also do the flash, but charge $$$$.

Hey Wedge,
So if i get my HPFP changed, thats normally all thats done?i remember before my HPFP was changed they tried a so called software to help fix the long crank back then, which didnt work so then they started to change the HPFP after that since it was a issue but at the time 2008 ish it wasnt very common enough. Now it is.I just wanted to see if my FLASH would get erased.I dont know what BMW does now if they also do a change in software when a HPFP is changed.May have call you again to for FLASH

I finally got my cable Friday and did the flash last night, huge improvement! I must say this could be one of my favorite mods!

I found coding and flashing in win7 was much easier and faster than using winxp Virtual Machine.

More than likely they flashed your DME, not the EGS module on the transmission. But I advise everyone to remove the flash if you take your car in for major warranty work. They flagged my transmission flash at the first dealer I took my car to for turbo replacement as a non-standard modification.

My mpg in the city has definitely gone up since I got the flash. All the roads I drive on have speed limits between 35 and 45 so I'm always cruising in sixth gear. As long as you drive a little conservative, you'll pick up maybe 1-2 mpg.

To whom it may concern. I tried this procedure as it seemed to be the easier one.
I followed this procedure and it all looked well:

However when flashing started the flash was really slow, first sequence took more than 30 minutes. The first flashing sequence went ok and then the second flash sequence didn't start and I got some errors.
The car did start but could not engage in any gear, it just sat there in Park. So it seemed to be bricked. I was really scared at that moment.

Luckily one of the forum members here was kind enough to help me out. One hour after I contacted cn555ic we were having a teamviewer session and he solved my problem and unbricked my TCU and flashed the alpine software correctly. The actual flashing indeed took about 4 to 5 minites.

So many thx to cn555ic , he really saved my day. Sofar really enjoying the car with the new flash.

I did it a couple nights ago. Managed to temporarily brick my tranny (couldn't take it out of park), but a little playing around with settings etc. and I finally got it flashed successfully. Not really too crazy about how quickly it gets to 6th in D, but the changes in Sport and Manual more than make up for it, plus better mileage!

Like others have mentioned I don't care for how quick it gets to 6th gear in D mode. But I wanted faster manual shifts and its a night and day difference completely worth it.

Follow up, I damaged my indicator board so I lost DS. New piece gets here Monday but holy shit! Especially tuned the car is awful. 40 or more and I'm in 6th. On the highway it searches between 5/6. Wow. That said this is still the most amazing improvement when in Sport or Manual.

I'm just worried I'm dogging the car. If my music is on I don't always notice that I am in 5th at 2000 rpm on boost up a hill. Car no likey.
