  • About PDC: I have no news from Eonon about this problem. Like I said, I've already disconneted the radio and turned on to see if this could solve the problem. Until now, I've the same problem as Kocke78. I'll send you a video about this.
  • About NFC: I have no news from Eonon about this problem. Tried with several phones and nothing happens. I'll send you a video about this.
  • About GPS dual zone function: Where does you turn on that function on the radio?? As you can see on the radio instructions manual, there isn't any information about how to activate it!

Hi bmgp , please do not worry, we are checking with the tech, just need more details from your guys. For the first 2 questions, please take a short video to us, i will check with the tech then.
For NFC function, i have checked your unit has this function. i will ask the tech to take a video and show how it operate. We will send it to your email box. Lastly, for the GPS dual zone, you can press "NAV" button under the radio or DVD mode, then you can use the dual zone function. Very easy!
Hope it will help. Thanks a lot!

Are we allowed to trim some of the bottom plastic of the Eonon without voiding the warranty? There is no way it's going to even come close to fitting otherwise:

Let me know.

I had to trim some of mine also and I just shipped it back for repairs, I hope they dont tell me it voids my warranty or I will be awefully upset since it doesnt fit properly without trimming.

I had removed some of the plastic of the air climate unit, however it still not fits well.

I thought in removing some of the eonon plastic under the climate unit: does anyone have a photo of the final work removing that plastic?

Thank you

Hi 7786, shaushshaush and bmgp, generally, if customer changed the out shape of the unit, it will out of the warranty. Of your cases, the warranty is still available. Please do not worry.

Meanwhile, i just wanna to know how do you need to trim the bottom plastic?
The tech checked that shaushshaush's unit has no visible change. If you can kindly PM me more details, i will check with the tech to resolve the issue. Thank you so much.

We need to trim about 1.5cm from where that red line is, so we can push the bottom part of the eonon flush up against the dash.

Hi 7786, thanks for update and provide us the details. What is the year and model of your car? And could you kindly check whether it is the RCA cable and iPod cables at the back of the head unit against the dashboard so that it ca not fully installed?
Since we have installed many units in our HK install shop and there is no such issue. This is the first feedback we received about it.Here is the installation pictures installed in BMW E90 2005

Actually every single person who has purchased this unit has complained about the bottom not lining up flush. My model is a 2006 325. If you look at the pictures again, you can clearly see that the bottom part of the plastic is butting right up against the dash. Otherwise there is plenty of room back there and I'm positive the rest of the unit isn't being caught on something, I haven't even installed any of the accessory wires yet like usb, ipod, gps, etc.

Also if you look at the car you posted, it seems to have the same issue at the bottom, it looks like it's also sticking out. Take a look at it from the side and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Totally agree with 7786: there isn't anyone on this forum that bought eonon radio for bmw e9X that got the bottom of eonon radio lined up.

Carlos, look at this image from eonon site: can you say that the bottom of this radio is lined up with the dashboard, with that space between blue and red arrows?

Hi 7786 and bmgp, thanks for providing us more information. Besides the forum, we sell D5165 on the official website, eBay, distributor, install shop in HK.... and this is the first time we heard the issue, so we need some time to investigate whether it happens to some model.

So 7786, does your car is 2006 325 E90? and how about bmgp? What is the model of your car? Thanks a lot for your support!

My car is a BMW 320d E91 (Touring) 2006.
I've sent this reference to your colleague Ella.

Thank you.

I made the huge mistake of ordering one of these, and I have to say it is absolutely terrible. I intend to write a full review but just want to advise anyone tempted not to get sucked in like I did.

Not only have I had to take it out of my car, but its made my climate control malfunction.

It is very poorly made, looks terrible and is quite possibly the worst thing I have ever bought!

Hey all, just posted a video review of the unit.

I really want to like the unit, but it's just has a few nit picky things that going to make me return it. If I didn't have a Logic7 I'd keep it, but I'll either have to power the speakers of the headunit (which requires cutting cables) or put a amp in the trunk and use a harness so i can "preserve" the factory system.

Anyway.

I completely agree! I have a 2007 335i and the bottom sticks out like everyone else on this forum - the bottom of the unit where the climate control is located does not fit evenly and sticks out.

I took mine out because I could not figure out how to get a constant power supply as my settings and radio stations kept disappearing. Also, I have logic 7 so this was not plug and play since I had to wire from the back of the unit directly to the amp in the trunk.

When will eonon have an adapter so those of us with logic 7 will not have to wire the speakers?

I also feel as though I was suckered...

You can make a harness that prevents you from having to cut/splice into any of the factory wires, however you'll still have to run them from the trunk to the front.

Where did you get those connectors for the harness?

Also how's the sound quality compared to the stock logic7? What speakers are you using(you deleted rear doors?)

You need the following:

1 Metra 70-9003 (this is the one that plugs into your dash harness)
1 Metra 71-9003 (this will plug into the eonon)
1 Metra 70-8590 (you will remove the bullet connectors and use them to plug the speakers into the logic 7 amp harness)

All 3 ran me about $20 shipped from ebay

- Wire the power, illumination, and ground between the two harnesses.
- There are also 2 can bus wires you'll need to find and wire between the two
- Merge the speaker wires into the 71-9003
- Pull the bullet connectors from the 70-8590 and connect them to the ends of the speaker wires that are going to the trunk

So far I have the speakers wired up like this:

Front right doors -> front right
Front left doors -> front left
Rear right door + rear right deck -> rear right
Rear left door + rear left deck -> rear left

You can merge the center speaker into either FR or FL like you're doing with the rears. That will leave just the subs that you'll need an additional amp to power, which I ran a pair of RCA cables for so I can install one later on down the road.

Do note that I'm the farthest thing from an audiophile there is and I have a hard time telling the difference between different qualities of speakers, but so far too me it sounds good. Obviously I'm missing a few speakers so once I get those going it should sound even better I hope.

Did anyone else have issues with their climate control after installing this?

Mine isn't functioning properly now - front fans not blowing at all.

I've never regretted a purchase as much as this!!

Hi sgm335i, could you let us know whether your car is 2007 335i E90 or E92?
Meanwhile, D5165 cannot work with LOG7 without modification as we mentioned before. But we may make it work with LOG7 in the future. Thanks a lot!
