Thanks for the GREAT DIY.
I've been using INPA 5.02 for years and with an '10 E60 and '08 E70 in the fleet, I needed this. I just completed the install on a 10 yr old orphaned XP laptop. I didn't have to reinstall the OS. Will the V.55.2(?) SPDatens work or do I risk losing some functionality? Thanks again. Last edited by pshovest; 09-25-2015 at 05:29 PM.. |

Windows 10 hasn't been qualified by BMW, but others have reported that it works. Your mileage may vary...

I am having trouble with my install
I am having trouble with my install
I found a version of 2.12 but when I try to bring up inpa it can't find some inpa/cfg files. This seems to be causing all the chassis selection to not be displayed. I saw another thread where people are having problems with this . I have an old version of the three program suite that is working but would like to get the new one and rhiengold going. So BMW tools is suppose to take care of all the manual setup that you used to do . For example I am finding no obdsetup.exe in ebiadas just some ftdi files ? Should work with windows 10 if it works with 8 |

OBDSETUP.EXE is outdated and no longer required. It is not included with BMW Standard Tools 2.12.

After reading closer I was getting less foggy but
I still need to zero in . Apparently now there is a program that helps you with this. Thanks for the reply. Also does the have the files necessary to run on older cars? Specifialy a 06 325 running MSV70. Inpa ebidas 5.02 only seems to download a description of the process rather than the actual english software Ok I got the whole 5.02 thing downloaded it took 2 hours I wasn't being patient and was kind of afraid of the download site . So I will slog on. Last edited by ctuna; 10-15-2015 at 02:25 PM.. |

What does ADS stand for in INPA-ADS?
What does ADS stand for in INPA-ADS?
Does inpa 5.02 have to unzipped to the C: drive(root ) to work? I think I missed step 1. And does root disk mean disk 1 ? Later in the day this. I think I have it most of the way there now thanks. Got some curves thrown as the 2.12 standard tools I have had more up todate sub programs than the inpa5.02 edibas 7.3 and ncsexpert 4.01 Last edited by ctuna; 10-15-2015 at 08:13 PM.. |

I haven't tested it on my car yet but the screen is coming up right.
Full selection list in english. Also I found the ncsexpert 4.01 will run under win 10 but 3.8 won't. I used a patch I found here to also convert that to English. For those of you that are struggling if you installed standard tools first I would check on what versions you got of inpa ebidas and ncsexpert. Also if you are downloading inpa5.02 from the op's link first entry it takes a long time. It took 2 hours I was kind of scatching my head as I had downloaded a full version of Rhiengold in about 10 minutes from the mega link. And I now have an pretty fast comcast connection . To the last guys question go look in that directory and see if the file is there it is in mine. Did you copy the entire EC-APPS folder from the uncompressed part of Disk 1 from the 5.02 download mentioned in the first post to your c drive. Last edited by ctuna; 10-15-2015 at 08:14 PM.. |

Yes, it needs to be unzipped in the root directory of the C: drive...i.e. C:\ Root disk does not mean disk 1. See this post for more information: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...0&postcount=34 Any INPA scripts newer than those found in INPA 5.0.2 will not be in English. Quote:

Copy the INPA scripts and configuration files from your saved CFGDAT and SGDAT folders. Code:

I think those files showed up when I ran
Instprog.exe
I never did that file copy you indicated. I just installed BMW tools 2.12 first then downloaded Inpa 5.02 and followed the instructions on the page titled with Installation INPA-EDIABAS FULL ENGLISH-EDITION. I think those files got added when I did the Instprog.exe update. I had already started to set up Rhiengold from the following site which gave me some more up to date versions of Inpa and ediabas. Not out of the woods yet I am running into can't find object problems when selecting just about anything. Verified my cable and old xp laptop setup is working. Never found the edibas.ini file mentioned in the setup. Also battery and ignition circles in inpa are always black instead of going from white to black once the car is turned on . Using com port 9 as long as they are matched in obd.ini I don't see why it should make a difference. Are all Daten files a super set of the last Rev.? I am thinking I don't have the right files for MSV70 and hoping that updating the datens will correct the api object not found problem. I notice some of the selections for motors is more limited but mine is there for e89's http://cartechnology.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=10224 Tried downloading daten 50.2 from mega file 22 out of 23 seems to be corrupt. If won't download. Went back now it works and I extracted 50.2 but how to apply it? Tempted to start over again as the more I struggle with it the clearer things become. So I compared my old an new version of ediabas.
So I compared my old an new version of ediabas.
And its obvious I am missing some files in at least ediabas. Also ediabas is in the root directory in my installation. I have Rhiengold up and working to I don't know if I want to mess with any path changes. That was a pretty easy install by the way. I have the daten files for 50.2 but I am not sure how to direct them to the proper folders. I have the download tool 2.5 but am not sure how that works. At no point in the installation did ediabas show up as a EC-Apps sub directory. Next entry on 10/19/2015 follows. So basically running now but I still have some file problems not all the menus are English and some of the menu selectiona are coming up with incompatible files. This may be because I assummed ediabas 7.3 would be a super set of 6.3 and I still don't have all the correct files in Inpa and NCS. But a good deal of it is working. This is an month 6/2006 build car (325xi wagon) Current factory integration level is e89x-14-03 I think they updated to this when the did the Seat Senor retrofit. Funny the factory level i file says 06-06-520 and the current i level is 14-03-500 Does this mean its a lower level now than in the factory? Last edited by ctuna; 10-19-2015 at 03:14 PM.. |

FYI injector coding with inpa
FYI injector coding with inpa
Can also be done with DIS57 and I assume ista. DSXmachina over on bimmerfest says you don't even have to code them as the car will adapt and he has a shop. I am wondering if the daten loader named BMW Coding Tool 2.5 loads up enough files to get these programs going. So I am wondering if ncs, inpa and winkfp have duplicate bin cfg and daten files in some cases or is edibas always called as a source of those. Last edited by ctuna; 10-23-2015 at 09:27 PM.. |

Installing BMW Standard Tools 2.12 and then installing INPA 5.0.2 over it is a really bad idea. You now have a hodge podge of old and new files that can never be sorted out. The only thing you need INPA 5.0.2 for is the CFGDAT and SGDAT folders from C:\EC-APPS\INPA which contain the English metric scripts and configuration files necessary for INPA to function properly. The DIY explains how to manually integrate the daten files. Each of the tools is dependent on EDIABAS to communicate with the vehicle. If the daten files are not integrated properly, you will have all sorts of problems. Don't assume that any step in the DIY is optional or can be performed in a different sequence. Yes, it does. However, fuel injector coding with INPA is not currently a tested use case. I plan to test injector coding in the next couple of weeks. I have index 12 injectors waiting to be installed.

So that would mean I would need to different drives
So that would mean I would need to different drives
One with a Rhiengold install and one with an Inpa, Ediabas, NCexpert install. There must be a better way than that. I had Dis 57 in a vmware and inpa running on the same win 7 machine . There should be away to have these programs installed on the same machine without virtual machines. |
