Hmm, I would sure think Sniz would be using 93, not 91, being in Maryland. Sorry if I missed that he is, in fact, using 91.

No this is my fourth tune.

Update:The problems are back and now I can give specifics.

1.) The shutter or hesitation occurs in 3rd gear under WOT at 5000-5500 RPM almost every single time.
2.) The limp mode occurs at 120mph in 4th gear at 6500 rpm without fail, every time.

* So where do I go from here. I have left multiple phone calls to Helix since last Thursday and not one call back. Tturbobullet has returned my PM's which is nice. So can Helix fix this if it is sent back to them? Anyone else had to send the tune back?

yes I can tune those issues out no problem... Sorry Helix hasn't returned calls that is because they are at a mini meet in north carolina. I'll PM you my home address simply send the attache back to me and I will flash a revised map on it for you. In the meantime i am going to mix some 91 octane fuel here and drive around with your map revision... how is the fuel quality of the 91 octane fuel in az? do you always fill up at the same station? if so what gas do u use?(mobil-shell-sunoco etc)

interesting bit of info....just got off the phone w/ a friend of mine who has a 335. He was suffering from sputtering, limp modes at WOT, and bucking. Unfortunately it was not constant so hard to diagnos. This was on a STOCK 335.

he was told by his SA that another car was in for the same issue a week ago.....they siphoned the gas and had it tested. The ethanol content was 20%, double what it was supposed to be. New tank of gas and the car behaved as it should.

Moral of the post.......gas station owners/suppliers may be getting shifty w/ the rising gas prices to make more profit.

thats kinda what I'm thinking fuel quality can play a huge part in these tunes and most importantly higher alcohol contents will cause the air fuel to lean out.

The shell station I use never affected my other tunes. However Im sure there is some underhanded gas companies trying to get away with as much as they can.

I mailed the Helix to you TTurboBullett and should be there in 3 days. Thanks for responding promptly.

Sniz: you described it as Bucking and I said hesitation. Your word I believe is a better description as to what the car was doing in 3rd gear between 5000 and 5500 rpm. It did it in 71 and 100 degree weather. i used shell in Vegas and filled up again in Phoenix with Shell and the symptoms were the same.
Let us know how yours is doing after install.

I don't mean to go OT, but I just saw your post and wanted to say that have had a suspicion about the ethanol content in the smog-ridden cities like LA, Phoenix, etc and if/how they have any correlation with pump failures. I have pretty much had a 94-95 octane mix in the tank since I got the car (which I can do 'cause it's not driven daily) and I'm hoping that's kept the ethanol % in my fuel as low as possible...

Cheers Guys!!!

tt do you know the status of my tune? as you are probably aware i have had multiple issues with limps (just about everytime on wot). i spoke with eric a few weeks ago and was told to send it back again and that he would send me a replacement asap. you guys received my attache back last tuesday..

anyhow i was getting quite frustrated as i have called everyday for the last week and left multiple messages and emails with no response. i should have checked this thread earlier as it sounds like there is no one at the shop. when are they going to return and start responding?

I think they should be on their way back here, I have left a few VM and emails, problem is they are in a very remote part of the Blue ridge Mountains between NC and Tenn with no cell service and apparantly no internet... You have a PM

Probably at MOTD (Minis on the Dragon). I wish I had the time to bring my Mini there

similar issues here. first started with the hfc dp's + 91oct dp map. limp mode everytime but no loss of power and then throwing the ses light.

ended up removing the dp's going back to stock, sent back the attache to get the standard 91oct map flashed. get limps with power loss just about everytime immediately after wot or close +60% throttle.

i have an manual 08 with 8/07 production running shell 92oct (northwest) with the standard MT 91oct map. after numerous discussions with eric he wanted to try full time hot for power vs. switched to see if that would alleviate the issues. he mentioned they had similar issues with another 08 which he thought had the new dme and running full time hot would be a workaround for sensing the tune. i am 99% certain i do not have the v81 dme nor do i think that would be a fix as the limps occur after warming up the car @ wot. after those discussions we agreed to send back the tune once again and swap it out with another.

this is only the second time i have shipped the unit back and this method is already getting old quick.

my biggest complaints with this tune:

1. lack of capturing datalogs & monitor
2. no option to bypass with plugs, etc
3. no way to flash maps without shipping back

with that said, eric has made it apparent that all troubleshooting should be left to his engineer which most likely goes hand in hand with my complaints stated above.

i don't mind having issues and understand the fact this is a new tune however, shipping the tune back everytime is not going to be feasible in the long run.
