I have typically not cleaned mine after every use (since every use only constitutes about 100 rounds) so instead I try to make sure I take it down and clean it every 500.

Do people think that's too long an interval?

I was so pissed at myself - put an idiot scratch on the 1911 the first time I cleaned it - even though I knew about the idiot scratch, I still did it. It wasn't super bad, but I was still ticked off at myself.
Only my 1911 gets cleaned after each time I take it to the range usually about 100 rounds.

The 629 Classic I only shoot a dozen or so rounds each trip, so I clean that every two or three sessions.

The polymers only get a quick run through with a Bore Snake.

I don't clean nearly that often, once over and oil but not full breakdown each time. Ran my 1911 3000 rounds then did recoil and firing pin spring good as new

I clean each time because I like to. The 1911 and ar want cleaning. Rest not do much. The ak47 laughs at me.

Every 1000 rounds for me, except the 1911 which the mag doesn't seat properly if I don't do it sooner. Probably time for new mags for it anyway.

Long term storage or a new mosin too to get the cosmoline off. Or corrosive ammo but I'm shooting less of that these days.

Mine is a colt 1918 black army limited edition. It's identical to what they gave the army on 1918 in every way down to the roll marks.the originals really like cleaning and to be put away wet.

Colt .45 ACP 70 Series. Shot it for the first time in 8 years today. Left it clean and oiled before storing it. Oiled it up last night and she performed like a dream.

25 yards, 10 shots in 20 sec, one handed. I usually use round targets, but decided to have some fun today. I used to be much better back when I was competing.

Clean and oil after every use unless I'm going to the range again the next day. Old habits.

Made me wish I had kept my Gold Cup.

Thinking about picking up a Glock 22 for reliable home defense. What do you guys think? I've been out of the game awhile.

For a pistol for home defence it'd be hard to beat. I prefer a short 12 gauge or AR over a pistol for bumps in the night myself.

Scheels (Sporting store around me) price matches so I just got 3 boxes of 50 rounds of the FN blue tip (Hornandy VMax "sporting" ammo) for $60 or 40 cents a round. I bought 1,000 American Eagle FMJ rounds from BulkAmmo for about 33 cents a round for the range. Much cheaper than the last time I looked at getting a FiveseveN.

Also the red tip armor piercing rounds are law enforcement only - not available to civilians sadly. I have some big metal plates that I would like to plink...that have stood up to numerous green tip 5.56 rounds.

3 - 9mm pistols
2 - .45 ACP pistols (3rd was ordered the beginning of April this year, but it'll be months before I get it)

Lately, the one I've had the most fun shooting is the .44mag wheelgun...but it's also been the most challenging & frustrating. It's heavy as all get out and has a birds-head grip, which forces a one-handed grip for the most part.
Nice! Why the wait on the .45? Is it something awesome like a custom 1911?
You can get the American eagle rounds on palmetto state armory's website for 15 dollars a box (30cents a round) when they're on sale. And they go on sale often. Free shipping when you order 10 or more boxes.

I get them all the time for my PS90

I already have a pump action 12.

If you want a handgun as well the G22 is awesome and you can find police trade ins for 325 all day long. Nice long rail to mount a light and reliable as the sun.

G22 is great then. Get a couple extended mags too. That way you can shoot more if needed and won't be as worried to conserve ammo. I usually stagger my mags with hollowtips, then AP. That way if I have a clean first shot its maximum effect, but if I don't, it's the next shot that can go thru the wall.
