if anybody knows the purpose of that feature
If it goes down the standard 1/4" to 1/2" it's to protect the window because there's no upper window trim frame. So opening the door, it slides down a bit, and when closing the door it slides back up into the window seal. (Actually has nothing to do with the key or pushing buttons.) Porsches and many other cars do this as well.

If you're not talking about that and the window goes alllllll the way down then you sir have a special car!

is there anyone who knows what accessory fits into the place in the glove compartment?
In my E91 there is a key adapter and some models have LED light. But this is something else it seems...

thx
As you now know, that is the spot for a LED flashlight

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=837453

Summary: it's discontinued from BMW, but the BMW flashlight was a relabeled LED Lenser P2. Fenix E01 or LD01 (LD01 is much brighter) will fit as well. Quite possibly other AAA keychain type lights, as long as they're about 14mm in diameter.

They were asking $458 at Concord BMW here in NorCal to get Sirius installed plus all the coding and labor.

That must be on a newer car that doesn't require the add on Sirius tuner in the trunk. As of last Thanksgiving-ish, the add on tuner was over $1K from BMW, that tells me it may be discontinued by now. (I bought one used so I didn't have to mess with such things.

I guess since I got an LCI E90. Sucks to have to pay 1k for something like that.

Believe me, I didn't. Only new parts I bought were whatever's included in the "install kit" (bracket, fan, random screws) which I ordered from Tischer - the module itself I got used. Can't remember if it was here or eBay but I don't need satellite that badly. I don't even listen to it too much, just figured I better add it before the parts weren't available anymore, and also figured a working sat installation would add resale value if for whatever reason I decide to get rid of the car. I added the alarm at the same time so got free shipping on the parts

I tried this on my e92 and it didn't work. Im not sure if i did it right but it sounds like a good feature. Does it require comfort access? I don't have CA.

Thank you very much for the details. I was considering a different one. I searched now the web and could not find genuine light so I will go for the other options you suggested.

Thanks again!

Stream hbo, Netflix and Hulu+

Didn't read the whole thread but I thought I would add just in case.

I stream hulu+, hbo go and, netflix to my Idrive. It's awesome to have thousands of movies and tv shows on trips.

I don't think many know about this.

Doesn't work in the 335i coupé either.

You can get the exact same kit for ~$20. Do some more shopping around on eBay.

You have to have the snap in adapter option. Then you get the car coded for DVD in motion.

Obviously you will have to have netflix, hulu+, or HBO.

Then start a movie or other video from iphone on the Idrive. Once the movie starts use the home button on the iphone to navigate to any of the options above and start a video. It will pull it up on the idrive and watch away.

The only one i have not been able to get to work is ESPN.

I have CA. Doesn't work. Is this for 07-10 E92 CA models or 07 doesn't count. My friend tried it as well. We both have ridges on the top door handle but I think there just there to help u open the door via friction. I have Autologic programmed my key fob to close the windows while holding the lock button but I'm still interested in this feature.
