Pecking away at maintenance….changed oil and was pleased to note that there was no debris at all on magnetic drain plug. Also changed brake pads, cleaned calipers. Basic stuff, but it's what we do.

Finally after months we're starting to make progress. I begin the five hour voyage to Denver to get everything repaired and upgraded. Keeping it dirty to hopefully deter any thieves
Edit: Its been done.. for the first time in my life I've dropped my car off at a shop for more than just an alignment. Terrified but excited

Put on my VRSF street catback.
Also, burnt my old bosch pre turbo bank 1 o2 sensor. Was being dumb and turned on burbles to see if it would shoot flames on my previous exhaust.. which it didnt. Just ordered some NTK sensors. P/N for those who are interested: 24322 (bank 1) and 24345 (bank 2) Other than that. Car is still on base map @ 17psi (wastegate only) and feels amazing. Fueling is looking great in the logs. Cant wait to bump up the boost.

Crossed the 150k mile threshold on the way to work so missed that 150,000 picture. Goal to get at least to 200k

I'm in need of help... desperately. I had been having a bad rattle in the car latley and found the headers were touching the motor mount so I figured the motor mount had gone bad. Purchased a new one and went to install it. This is what I found. Some how the studs that hold the cradle or what ever you'd call it have broken. So basically just the driver side mount has been holding the motor down. Question is...now what? There isn't enough stud left to thread a bolt on to put the cradle back on... please help
*update* The 2 of the 3 studs came right out by hand. The third (top) one is broken off right at the motor so there's nothing to grab. I'm going to grab an extractor set tomorrow morning and see what I can do. Last edited by S65Hunter; 06-03-2022 at 10:44 PM.. |

Replaced all coils. Cold starts have been a bit rough lately, and occasionally while stopped, idle will jump and fall. While no codes were thrown, figured it couldn't hurt to change them - all originals with 61k on em.

That would definitely explain the rattle sound though. I'd check up on the other mount as it has probably been strained quite a bit with that

I had a headlight out for about 2 weeks, finally decided to go with osram CBI. Significantly brighter, but I see about 0 blue once warm. I really wanted something that would match my LED halos. Which I don't really think it does, Definitely warmer. I'd say it's like 5000k vs the 6-6500k that's advertised.

Had a hydrogen clean via the air intake. Code came up for NOX sensor version - see pic. Also got an ageing CAT code.
Looks like a secondary CAT delete is in order. Anyone done is to their N43? |

The before/after simple swaps continue:
Before: After: Also, the service messages on the car say I need front brake pads in 2900 miles or so. I want to cut down on brake dust and folks have mentioned akebono - is this what I want? https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...8i-e92-eur918a Thanks! |

I opened up a can of elbow grease and polished up my badly weathered headlights. They were in dire need of a sprucing up. Wet sanded with 400, 1000 and 2000 grit paper and then a UV blocker clear coat that came in the kit. Before and after photos.

Mounted my new m-sport rear diffuser and got my new m-sport bumper on.
Started the water pump/tstat install. What a PITA. But happy that I'm able to do it myself without having to pay somebody

I used the Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit. Amazon.ca link: https://www.amazon.ca/SYLVANIA-Headl...99&sr=8-1&th=1
I've tried a number of different kits over the years and the Sylvania kit is by far the best I've come across. And at just under 40 Canadian Pesos the price isn't bad either.

I actually really like the instant MPG gauge. My OBC is actually set to the instant readout, ironically. Oil temp gauge is way more useful though if you're going to have a dedicated gauge. |

I agree... I've always liked the instant MPG. But an oil and coolant temp gauge would sure be nice!
