Instead of useless I'd say very vague indicator, but yea you got it I think. How you drive on the tire has much more impact on it's life...people who don't track AD08s will get 12k+ out of them, while those who do might get 3-5k (source = remembering posts on lotustalk)

thats true, still though ponying up for PS2's is hard to justify.

thinking these might work - any thoughts?

Give me a size you want, what you want to do with them and I will find you the best tire. I have run just about every high performance tire out there.

yeah, it will fit with stock offset and not rub. If these tires are just for spirited street driving I would go with the DW, PS2 (obsolete), Pilot SuperSport (ps2 replacement). If you want cheap, the Ventus V12 evo is a popular choice that is quiet and reasonable in the wet, if not having the ultimate dry traction.

no, they won't fit with my offsets - just confirmed with Julius. If they had I woulda had Conti's cuz they are in stock in that size.

I can run a 215/40/18 245/35/18 combo which is stock or i can bump up the fronts to 225/40/18

Not worth the money, they are a quiet Star-Spec with a broader temperature range that wear decently. you get 90% of the performance out of DW, more than you would use on the street anyway

I would put more tire up front, as most bmw chassis have tuned in understeer, 225s are also going to be cheaper at least on my end.

it won't fit, my VB3's are 5mm too aggressive so I lose .2 inches of section width I can work with before I rub. If it was on OEM wheels it'd be fine but on these CSL's it will rub. Basically max section width I can do is 9.8". If I roll the fenders, 9.9" but 10" is too aggressive and I'm not going to run camber.
