What did you do to your car today?

Front brake pads swapped from OEM to Akebono. Excited to see less dust. Stopping power seems normal so far, maybe a tiny bit slower to bite, although sounds like it needs a break-in period so we'll see. I kept the rotors I had as they seemed fine. Rear brakes next weekend.

Alright, brake fluid and both front & rear differential fluid now changed (Mercedes has drain plugs, what a concept!). Pretty much good to go for another five years!

I swear by Akebono pads. Really wanting the current BMW pads to hurry up and get used up so I can justify changing them out!!!

I'm having an issue with Akebonos. They do this clunk when you first step on the brakes. It's as if the whole pad shifts laterally when you apply brakes.
Seems to be an issues with a few people based on my seach. I contacted Akebono and they sent me a new set. Haven't had a chance to install yet.

Aside from this clunk noise, I really like the fact that I dont have to clean my wheels.

FYI, ATE makes ceramics too. Might give these a try if my new set of Akebonos still makes noise.

When I upgraded to 335 calipers..

330 w/ oe pads -> 335 w/ akebono pads

Initial bite ended up being the same as expected, and of course stopping power was increased while brake dust became virtually non existent. I do wish I did brass slider bushings and ss brake lines while I was in there. Maybe later..

Edit: and I have experienced no clunking with my pads. They are a little noisy hitting bumps when cold though.

The clunking is a known issue with Akebonos and the 325/328/330. I had the same issue with clunking on mine, they sent me another set, same issue. I went back to Textar (OEM) pads and while they dust a lot the bite is much better and zero clunking. When I contacted Akebono they claimed to have addressed the issue, but when I received the new pads they looked identical, and I wasn't pleased after wasting time installing them AGAIN that the issue was still there.

I had the clunking noise when I bought my e93. Just changed to Akebono 2 weeks ago. The pads I removed with the clunk were Pagid.

If you use CRC disc brake quiet (the red paste) it helps to lock the pad to the caliper and will prevent the clunks.

I'm clunk free for 2 weeks.

Hit a curb. Guess there’s always a first time for everything. Alignment looks fine, don’t know if I should have it checked. Now I need to find someone to refinish the wheel.

Had a replacement windshield installed on the F10. Went with Climate Comfort glass, makes a huge difference! Was $410 installed, which wasn't bad, all things considered.

I have ordered a replacement anti-roll bar from Eibach. Hope it helps with the loose handling on the 335i coupe. Thinking of ordering a new or second-hand LSD, can't believe BMW sent the 335i out with a standard diff. Both my old 325 E36 and 330 E46 handled better than the 335 but granted not as fast in a straight line.....ha ha

I renewed the registration and felt lucky to stand in line for only thirty minutes. I would have done it by mail but I didn’t receive the form after moving recently.

Mostly a significant reduction in heat coming through the windshield.
The F10 has Premium 2, so sunshades in the rear, but the glass itself isn’t tinted.
Driving in the GA heat with all the sunshades up + the new windshield led to a significant reduction of heat in the cabin...

I was at the dmv the other day. I only go towards the end of the day, around 4.
I was in and out in about 30 minutes. Seems they are getting faster/better.

Bought a jack today - the Daytona 1.5 ton (Al) jack at Harbor Freight.
Also, found out I have 4 ton jack stands in the attic, so I think I’m set from a weight handling perspective (plus a rather healthy safety margin).

Driving from Atlanta -> Philly tomorrow (yes, I will be doing it in one day, leaving at 5AM), and am retrofitting the alarm for obvious reasons...
