Question for y'all: are folks generally comfortable running summer tires year-round in NC? I know they're useless on the days that it happens to snow, but what about those occasional 35-40f rainy days in Jan/Feb?

I ran my summers all year for the past two years. The only problematic days were snow days and I ended up staying home most of those days or finding alternate means of transport because the car was just scary to use. But otherwise no issues. It was probably an issue 5 days out the year. If you absolutely need your car everyday I would get a set of all seasons.

You have to bear in mind that you're balancing risk and using the tires outside of their design parameters, so are responsible for the results. I've seen people hit the gas on their cars on cold dry pavement and end up hitting the guard rail. If you take it easy, then you should be fine. I tend to put winter tires on my M3 for a few weeks because of the ice, but am happy to drive my 911 on cold dry days even with summer tires.

Thanks, fellas. Yeah, I'd be more worried about cold pavement and cold conditions than snow or ice - I can probably work from home on the odd snow day.
Most of my driving is up and down I-40 which means higher speeds but also I'd imagine warmer pavement. I've had all-seasons since I bought the car and I think it's time for that to change.

All my cars always get summer tires only. No problems in the last 10 years except I spun out my 350z once while driving in the snow going onto the highway. I didnt hit anything though, so I got lucky.

Yea, no snow tires here either. All-seasons/summers for the last 9 years in Raleigh with no problems other than the random snow days. In which case everything is usually closed anyways, so I don't have to go anywhere.

I'm running summer tires all year long and have zero issues. Hell, I even made it home 10 miles uphill in that nasty snow we had this winter. Don't drive like an asshat in the winter and you'll be fine. In other words, drive it like it's a Camry - no zipping in and out of traffic, no punching it off the line, no locking up the brakes at the red light. I may have a 335i, but I drive like an old man 75% of the time.

Haven't been on the forum in a while. I know there are a few of us that either work at or are NCSU students. With classes starting back next week, how 'bout we do an on campus get together, then cruise to downtown?

I would definitely be down to meet up with a few guys around NCSU and then do a cruise.

Newbie here
Hello, I am a new member in the Wilmington NC area. I have recently acquired an '07 e91 328i. Only mods so far are coding mods.
I am definitely in the market for some 18" OEM BMW wheels. I'm open to both staggered and square setups. I know that isn't very specific, but I honestly like most of the 18's that BMW has offered in the 5x120 config. |

I can do 8-30, although I graduated from NCSU back in 2011 but it'll be fun to get back on campus, never miss an opportunity to drive around the campus when I am around even though its longer lol.
We can grab a few drinks as well, at flying saucer maybe?? love that place |

Meet in a parking lot so that if there are others willing to join, it'd be easy to spot each other... I am open to pretty much any place on campus !!! I'd be driving down from CH so whatever place everyone prefers to meet at. |
