I have a question that I have tried reading through the pages for the answer. Maybe I missed them?
I have a 2009 e90 328i. Recently got the m performance brembo front (370mm) and rear (345mm) with rotors. Front is in, waiting to get the rear calipers back from machinist. My question is: for the rear parking brake, do I need to put 335 rear parking brake since 328i has smaller parking brake? (to accommodate the 345mm rotors) If so, do I need to change the knuckle? Thank you in advance. Learned a lot from this thread |

Basically just a 328 brake pad spring/seat attachment welded to a 335 brake shoe. Don’t know where my pictures are but I bet if you search something regarding 328/335 rear pad conversion I bet it will pull up. Or go back through the conversation. Good luck and you will love the setup.
Guess you can look for my posts. I definitely posted about it and just had a muffler shop cut and weld it for me. And I was not the first one to do it for sure.

Not true. The M3/M4 came with a 18 inch wheel, the 513. I run them on my 335is with the 380mm rotors

I installed brakes on a Bmw E92 from a Bmw F82 380mm/370mm.
Tell me, is it necessary to install the brake master cylinder and vacuum brake booster from M3E92? I currently have the master cylinder and vacuum booster installed from a 325i. Last edited by Igor.v_a; 12-12-2023 at 02:16 PM.. |

The M3 master cylinder should be installed or you might not be pushing enough fluid for the larger brakes. The larger cylinder will also make the pedal more firm and require more effort to push. I have e90 M3 brakes on my 335i and I didn't change the booster. The booster is the amount of assist you get rather than the amount of fluid you move so it is optional. Some have said that the M3 and 335i booster are the same but they are a different part number so the M3 likely has a different amount of brake boost. The M3 booster may offer more assist to counter act the larger master cylinder which would increase pedal effort. Or they could have said "this is a performance car, the brake boost should be less and the driver should have to apply more effort than what a non performance minded driver would expect." I wouldn't bother changing the booster unless you feel the pedal effort is too high. It should be higher than stock with the M3 master cyl given that it has to move more fluid in the same stroke. I haven't it to be too firm for me or my wife with the e90 M3 brakes and a regular non M booster. It seems fine to me without going through the hassle changing it.... I even have and M3 booster that came with the master cyl and didn't bother with it. Does anyone know if the e90 M3 booster has more or less assist than the non-M?? The 335i and 325i seem to have the same booster. -Rich

It would need a check valve (and/or a pump), so that it holds vacuum under boost. At least that is how other more simplistic turbo cars that I have owned work. I haven't looked that closely at my 335i actually. Or do you just mean brake booster by "vacuum amplifier" I thought I checked the boosters and they were the same for hte 335/325. -Rich

But, if it is possible to improve the braking system by installing a master cylinder and vacuum booster from the M3E92, I would like to do it. I would like to understand whether it is worth doing this or not. How much does this improve the braking system? |

Not a coding expert but you can do it yourself. Set to performance brake option, or take it to independent shop w scanner etc, what I did and paid like $50 and took 5 min + he coded out my bulb check as I did a full LED conversion and did not want to mess w any resistors.

I'll have to look into coding for my setup of the Fxx 340/345mm Brembos combined with an E9x M3 master cylinder. The initial bite isn't as strong nor the pedal as firm as stock, but the brakes are still very effective.

Hey guys,
I'm about 90% done with this upgrade but I have my 2cents. The rear brake conversion on specifically, the all wheel drive LCI rear hub is very tight, if not 'barely' fitting. It looks as if there is a tighter tolerance between the emergency parking brake and the ears of the rear caliper. As such, fitting the Fxx rear caliper w/ an adaptor has much less tolerance and in fact, everything is a SNUG, SNUG fit. I have to use a rubber mallet to get the caliper into place. I haven't run the car yet but the caliper ears now touch the parking brake backing plate.

Brakes
Is anyone's looking for a set, my car was totaled by a drunk driver.
Have 4x broke calipers 370mm, with rotors to match. Rears already converted for e90. Comes with proper rear rotors for e90 sport brakes. Also including m3 master+booster. Also includes pads and stainless lines. Pads are M4 rear/akebono front, majority of life left. Asking 1300 obo, better if IL/Wi/Mn as it's heavy.

Hey fellas, this thread sure got pretty long & I had no idea it had gotten to almost page 99. That's pretty crazy cool all in itself. I've been messing with my X3 M for about 5 years. So been away from this thread for all those years. I have a 2011 335i M-Sport sedan with the nice monte carlo blue 4-piston OEM Brembo front brakes (taken from the F30 cars). From what I remember...
(1.) I have the E60 535i front rotors right... ? (2.) What I would like to know is... what's the easiest way to finally get the nice blue single piston calipers "finally" on the rear... ? (3.) And do I have to change the rear rotors to one that has a different offset too... ? Please help shoot shoot some more quick specs + part numbers my way so I can quickly take care of this. Reading through 98-99 pages is making my eyes sore & red already. THANK YOU in advance... !
