My friend works at a dealer and had to blow up a clunker car. OG ford 6 cylinder. It ran WOT for 2 hours with no oil, no coolant, water and brake pad shavings in the crankcase. Now that's a truck that should have been kept!

It's that bad. The people who say "Oh it's fine for 30k miles" don't even know what blown shocks feel like. Half the time it's the retarded vendors that give this info out and their e9x is their first car and they couldn't change their own oil to save their lives. Shocks / dampers are often misunderstood and people don't know how they work, and what their function is in a car. Question a vendor for solid info and most will just tell you about how it makes your car ride. Without question, the shocks will make a huge difference in the way your car handles, and the springs will make less of a difference actually.
I had a coworker who took that advice and did the install twice on his car, once for the springs, and again for the shocks. Do it right and do it once. Don't consider coilovers to be actually matched either. It's a good bet, but I've driven and rode in plenty of cars with coilovers where the shocks were not up to par.

from personal experience, don't do it. save up and get a proper spring and shock combo or coilovers.

yea got it back today, they said nothing was wrong. they ran a stethescope or something to the turbos and stuffs to listen for sounds but they said nothing was out of the ordinary. said compared sounds to other 335is on the lot. my rattling sound might be comming from injectors they said. but they also said a guy came in with my same symptoms and they gave the car back with the same diagnosis of nothing. but a few weeks later his car got limp mode and he had to bring it in.
