Got the front lip mounted. Just a little more trimming and a re-clear and I’ll be set. Pretty happy with the outcome. It’s on there SOLID.

Did you just cut a couple inches out of the center, and put them back together?

Nope, just trimmed a few spots. I’ll take a photo of it off when I paint it.

Radiator fan choosing when it wants to turn on and off

Hello everybody this is my first post on your site I've read it for a long time now for small problems here and there and now I need some help. So I just replaced my radiator fan and for the first couple weeks it was working perfectly fine. The reason why I replaced it was it wasn't turning on, the fan barely wanted to kick on, and if I spun it with my fingers it would kick on sometimes so I thought the control module or the fan itself was going bad so I just replaced it. Worked perfectly no problems for weeks. Now a couple weeks later it's doing the same thing that's being selective when it wants to work i get that burnt crayon smell through the window and I can tell that something's running hot. I just shut it off turned it back on and it's working again I don't know if there's a short somewhere that's feeding the wrong voltage or wrong information to the fan itself but if anybody has heard of this problem please let me know. Radiator fan has trouble kicking on I can see it trying to move so i replace the whole fan and computer module in one thought that fixed it, it turned on worked perfect for a couple weeks now it's doing the same thing any ideas thank you very much.

Where did you get the replacement motor from?
You’d also get more answers/help if you started your own thread.

My new 335i arrived from California! Still has the Cali plates on it, which is pretty cool!

Car is in good shape. Looks like someone ran over a parking barrier and pulled the bumper out of alignment, but that’s easily fixed. On the plus side it has the OEM BMW clear protection film on it, never seen that before.

Dropped it off a Nalley BMW to have the OFHG addressed. I’d do it myself but I wanted a shop warranty behind it, what with it being an N55 and all.

Needs front tires soon and a brake fluid flush most likely.

Oh, and the damned TPMS light won’t go off. Just says “resetting TPMS”. Not sure what that’s all about.

Dropped it off this morning for its annual service and MOT. Fingers crossed no issues rear their ugly heads.

Thanks! My dad and I restored it, it’s a 6 speed which sat outside for 7 years prior to our purchase. Labor of love.

Regarding the E90:
  • I’m now getting a TPMS malfunction on the dash. Figure it’s the old TPMS sensors in the front wheels - tires are from 2016 and need to be replaced.
  • More concerningly, I drove it for about 40 min on the way home, and the oil temp never came off the peg. Thinking it might need a thermostat/water pump as well.
  • OFHG was changed, but the paperwork doesn’t mention the oil pump priming procedure. Given it was done at a BMW dealer, I presume I’m safe in assuming they primed the oil pump?
  • Also getting a vibration on the freeway, and the brakes feel a bit funny, but have plenty of life left. Hopefully they just need to be bled. Vibration under braking too, but the control arms look fine.

Given I got it for 2.5K under market value, not bad all things considered. Still, I miss my old E90. That car was totally sorted…

Started pulling the radiator on the E91 but rainstorm this afternoon discouraged me. I'll finish it tomorrow.

850i - we never got the 6 speed 840 over here.

Has EDC, which is wild. Fully rebuilt too.

Got a full spare black interior for cheap. Debating dying this one’s centers. My current one was completely custom and I cut out all of the panels for 2 tone. I think cinnamon would look really good with my paint color.

I think that could work - I believe the E39 / E46 had that kind of scheme as an option through BMW Individual.

And on my own car - scanned it with a TPMS reader, one of the sensors is dead. No surprising given the age.

Still can’t figure out why it won’t read the correct oil temp though.

Anecdote: Our 528i w/ N52 takes forever to warm up. I wouldn't be surprised if my E90 does as well, but I just can't see it without have a gauge there showing me (An E90 weakness IMO).

Installing radiator and the darn thing is defeating me. For some reason it will not sit in place so I can screw it into the mounts.

Yeah I know but doing it in the driveway and it's 28 degrees and damp....perfect New England weather. Yesterday it was 50 and rainy today it's been flurries, I'm done for the night. it's getting dark.

I did get the vanos solenoids cleaned up, They looked good no varnish.

OK, that puts it in perspective! I have the opposite problem in the summer... trying to get everything done before it gets too hot to work in the driveway!!!
