Was thinking the same and it really irks me that they don't just offer wilder designs for them while more traditional ones for the rest of the world. Before anyone chimes in that it'll cost too much; they already do this for lower tiered cars in the same series. For instance, the 2, 3 and 4 series base x30 cars all have different front and rear bumpers as well as other more toned down exterior design cues when compared to the sport and M-lite models. China can have all the crazy giant fulgy grilles and wild designs while the rest of the world can have more traditional ones; win, win.

Best look at ZB I’ve seen.
I think it just needs to be broken up with some carbon additions (preferably aftermarket) & will look ok.

Looks to be the same ZB car that’s been floating around with Shadowline headlights yet non-Shadowline exhaust tips

Because this is one of the most wildly repeated myths. The big grills aren't for china. It's for us. Americans love huge grills.

I don't like the M3/M4 grills at all. But this new M2 is acceptable, to me.

It's not a myth, I've literally seen videos of BMW admitting as such. Think the most recent one I saw was on the XM if I remember correctly.

Yes, I did. I can't remember what video it was, but they were talking to someone who designed the car. The kidneys were brought up and China was mentioned. If I remember or come across it again, I'll post it.

Correct, not a myth.

The overall designs are with the Chinese market in mind, not the U.S. or the German markets.

It makes sense.
I also read something about Chinese preferences for car infotainment (in general, not related to Bmw's), and the result was that the Chinese are not very familiar with splitting the car's functions into two screens, one for vehicle information and one for infotainment, they prefer one big screen with all the functions (like Tesla), and the ID8 might be the first step toward that.
I don't like big grilles (although I like the G8x's front end) and huge screens, but as a car manufacturer I would make the same choice if that is what the majority of customers want, that is the purpose of market research, and since China is the largest market I can't blame Bmw - or any other manufacturer - for these choices that I think are bizarre, but clearly are not.
In short, if a mass of people start asking for pineapple on pizza, be sure that you will find Hawaii pizza in Italy too, and if you don't like it you can just stop eating pizza

That rear bumper... just doesn't flow right. That angle doesn't help. It looks off balance with the tiny spoiler on top with the bulging bumper on the bottom. That bumper pulls your eyes down to focus on that bottom half. Maybe a wide Cayman GT4 style wing would balance out the rear.

I did this PS which is on the previous page. IMO extending the bottom half of the bumper makes it look much better.
