operating E93 top with key remote
I think I read somewhere that you can open/close the hard top through the remote key, by keeping the lock/unlock button pressed. Is this true or am I having a senile moment?
I tried on mine and doesn't work. |

It works with mine, but I have CA.
I think you have to press the unlock button twice, it will go down after the doors unlock. Also, with mine you have to be REALLY close for it to work smoothly. I think the owner's book said, try to avoid doing it if you can. Which is stupid, but I THINK it said something about it being best to put the top up/down when the car is actually running. Don't remember. Also make sure your trunk thingy is down if you're having senile moments. |

you can only OPEN the roof and windows with your key fob, due to some US safety regulations. As far as i know you could buy an aftermarket module that will allow you to do that. Not sure if it will work on E93, but i know it works for windows on E92

I don't know about US, but all E93 models in Hong Kong can remote open the top down.
However, I got a friend driving an E93 having some problem to his primary key, which cannot remote open the top down, but his spare keys can. Maybe try your other keys, if not, then ask your dealer.

In U.S., with Comfort Access, you can open the top and windows by pushing down on the unlock button.
To close, you have to separate the key fromthe key fob and put the key in the driver's door lock and turn the key CLOCKWISE and hold it there to close the top and windows. On U.S. models, you cannot close the top by pressing UNLOCK on the key fob. |

You don't need to press it twice, If you have comfort access you lower the windows and the to by holding the unlock button down. You can raise the top and close the windows it by holding the lock button down. You need to be close to the car for this to work, THe top will not lower if the luggage compartment divider thingy is not down and latched.

Also, if I hold it long enough when I put it down, all the windows will go back up. Kind of annoying, but I always wait for the windows to go up a little bit just to make sure the top went down all the way.

I have the CA, and it's a US car, but euro delivery.
Anyhow, you can drop the top or close it via remote, just have to stand like 2 ft away ....unless you get that module from eAS Without the module you have to hold it down to open or close, and need to NOT be in motion to use it. With the module, you can fold your mirrors/unlock the windows/drop or open the top with a click of a button AND you can do it while in motion. US regulations say you MUST be stopped to operate it...or something gay like that. I know the euro spec cabrios can operate the top up to 25mph |

I have owned my 2013 E93 for 7 years and until recently the key fob remote opening of the roof worked great. Then it randomly stopped working.
After some research, I began to suspect that the battery was below par. The voltage measured 12.4v, so below the the recommended 12.6v and it was over ten years old. So due a change. I figured if the battery reached a certain low threshold then the remote roof opening may be disabled when the engine isn't running. I changed the battery, registered it, and remote opening is restored. I haven't seen this written down anywhere. |
