Optimum Opti-Seal vs. CarPro HydrO2 - which is better?
Which one is better in terms of longevity and protection?
It's all positive reviews for both items however I haven't seen a comparison review between the two. Seems like they are in the same class. Thanks |

I have not used Hydro (looks neat though) so I'll just speak to Opti-seal. I come from a Klasse twins background and switched to Opti-seal last year. I still love Klasse AIO on my windshield (I prefer it over Rain-X), but Opti-seal is now all I use on my paint. It's so much easier to apply/remove and durability has been fantastic. I went from December to March without re-applying and the paint was still being protected. I don't know how long after that it would last because I almost apply it every wash due to how quick it is. It also goes a long way. I think I've only used 1/10th of it after a year!

I'd consider Hydro2 more of a temporary layer of protection. You can protect the entire car, windows, body and wheels in under 10 minutes. And less if you use a fancy spray bottle.
I recommend using Hydro as a layer of protection on-top-off a greater sealant. A few sprays around the car after a handwash will help. Hydro is 100 times better than any wax, I'll say. |

Both products are fantastic, so don't overthink it too much.
The real benefit to CarPro HydrO2 is the fact that it is applied to a wet vehicle, and simply rinsed off. So there is no wipe on, wipe off, etc. Just spray on, rinse off. The downside to this product is that it can leave some streaking on darker finishes due to oversprayed areas and runoff not being properly rinsed. CarPro HydrO2: Application Tips by Zach McGovern I use HydrO2 on our wheels ALL THE TIME. It is definitely the quickest and easiest way to protect all the nooks and crannys of your wheels. CarPro HydrO2: Seal Your Wheels in Less than 1 Minute by Zach McGovern Another option is CarPro HydrO2 Foam... this is a shampoo + hydro2 combined Product Review: CarPro HydrO2 Foam by Zach McGovern With all of that being said, we do really enjoy using Opti-Seal on customer cars as well. It is very quick and easy to use. Simply spread a thin layer onto the paint with a foam applicator, then the majority of the product will flash away on its own. No excessive wiping or buffing. You will have some wet spots that you need to lightly wipe, but still far easier than applying and removing a traditional wax. Also, Opti-Seal is not prone to streaking like HydrO2 since it is not applied when wet. Optimum Opti-Seal Spray Sealant Product Review by Todd Cooperider Again, you can't go wrong with either. They are both great products. Zach McGovern Detailed Image Ask-A-Pro Blog Author www.AttentiontoDetailingPeoria.com |
