I think this is where the huge ADMs are coming from. No dealership needs 20 people in the order bank. After the first few they can just start throwing out huge ADMs and that's basically their way of saying go away or pay us huge money. They have nothing to lose. Worst case scenario is the car arrives and they sell it for MSRP. They still win.

“Whatcha Talkin’ About Willis?”

MY23 is not the first and last year of full ICE in the G87. No clue where you got that? The G87 will be the last M vehicle produced with full ICE as well as offered with manual transmission.

“This model year” would insinuate model year 2023.

You are saying they will make multiple years of the G87 and as long as this generationis made, it will be a pure ICE?

From what I posted, thats not what these articles say (they reference year, not generation model).

Fake News… or clearly misinterpreted. I am not going to waste my time arguing with you. The correct information is out there.

“To be manufactured exclusively in Mexico at the San Luis Potosi Plant, the last series production M car with a pure ICE setup.” Source BMWBLOG.

The end of an era, the new M2 is very likely BMW M's last pure-combustion car - https://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/tech...re-price-specs Since confirmed.

MY23 is the introduction of the last M vehicle to be produced with full ICE, not one year.

I am not arguing with you, was just showing what I read. Poorly written, obviously possible (should have said generation instead of stating model year?).

Yes, 48v like the current B58TU and the new S68.

#1 on list at a mid size dealer…

Got a phone call from my sales rep that they think allocations will drop within next 48 hours, and if not, in early February.

Might be incorrect info, but sounded like sales manager got some sort of internal communication that drove the phone call.

On a side note: I finally found and m240i xdrive to test drive, to get a sense of the chassis that underpins the m2. Some thoughts to share for those that have not been able to find one to test…

- Former owner of a OG 1 series coupe (just a 128), 981 Cayman, 2016 M4, and an Alfa Romeo 4C. Driven many 1st gen M2s but never bought - didn’t like the interior quality or the exterior from side/back, not enough of the 1M’s bulldog stance or muscularity. Concerns prior to test drive were: Steering feel, fun factor, transition away from DCT. Excited about: Interior quality, handling, straight line speed.

Objectives with m2 is a fun car that I can also use as a daily, with a back seat to enjoy taking my toddler son out, and potentially tracking a few times a year.

- Cross shopping with:
Certified 991 Base Carrera as sole car (would have likely been my #1 choice wife doesn’t like size of back seat if it’s a daily)

Keeping current x1 daily and buying Lotus
Evora as 2nd car.

Prefer single car g87 plan, but the above were my “back ups” if I can’t get one within a reasonable time.

- Honestly the m240 exceeded all my expectations. Great, great all rounder. If it looked more “special” I would have been tempted to buy rather than wait for m2.

- comparing to last gen m4… felt just as fast if not faster. More power than anyone could want on the road. I was highly skeptical of the “M light” branding dilution, but… if it looked a bit more special, they could have called this an M2 and I would have been none the wiser on the road. Pretty incredible car for around 50k.

- Reviews complained about the steering of the 240. I got rid of M4 for this reason. Pleasantly surprised… not Porsche quality, and certainly nothing close to the zero assist steering on the Alfa, but the 240s steering was so much better than the M4 from 2016. Only slightly more feel, but big difference in how well the car rotates and turns in. No concerns after the test drive.

- Transmission is 10X better than expected. Smooth in traffic (m4 was horribly jerky when you didn’t want it to be) but felt just as fast as a dual clutch. Not quite PDK speed but instant enough to where shifting via paddles was fun/engaging. Would prefer a manual, but wife needs to be able to drive car in an emergency - and no concerns after the test drive. Combined with the turn in rotation, the power, and the quick shifts - its a genuinely fun car.

After the test drive, I’m totally confident that the g87 will be the best choice out of the options I was comparing above. Sharing in case this helps anyone endure the wait time.

So maybe, they think, allocations might come today, tomorrow or in February...and they called to give you this definitive information. Well, this sure won't add to the rumor bank.

Hmmm...wonder if they are a member here or read here and are using this as a means to scr...ok, never mind.

To cut to the chase, would love to see the next post in this thread be a picture of their vehicle order report showing status 111/112.

Of course today or tomorrow, or February which starts Wednesday. Could have gone with “imminent”.

Maybe I am being glass half empty and your dealer actually knows something but then again he gave himself a month just in case. 😀

Yep. Anyone who's spent time with any recent G products knows the G87 is going to be an amazing drive.

S58 + 6MT + G80 hardware + short wheelbase + $63k base = instant classic.

I also received an unofficial message but I deal with the GM at my dealership. He says his M rep whispered that he is expecting allocations in Early February as well.
Un-officially of course.

At the dealership now getting my M240 oil changed and tire rotation. Rears wearing faster than the fronts gives proof of rear drive biased xDrive. Oh, and of my heavy right foot. Got 10,000 miles on her. Just a blast to drive in Sport+. Can’t wait to get my 6-speed manny G87 M2!

Looked all around the dealership and I can’t find this damn G87 M2 anywhere. WTF?!?!?

I did see a bitchin’ white 718 Cayman GT4 across the street at the P-Car dealer in for service. That’s what I’m gonna get next. But first bring on that new M2.

You are joking, right? Why would you expect to see one at a US dealership?

Figured so.

I have a '23 M240 RWD. Usually driven in sport mode. Will now be curious to see how the tires wear.
