So I bought this $40 Front bumper lip on ebay ... I wasn't trying to get anything to expensive it's a
3-Piece lip .... So i installed it . looked real cool for a second , went to go out for a drive then the middle part flies off ... and when i drive now i feel the side pieces are scratching the ground , so ofc with that being said the wind pressure is dragging it down causing it to break off ....... Now lmao Ik thousand of people got lips ... Did it break off because it was so cheap ?... I see some people have the rods with the lip , does that help support it or just mainly for looks? I really want a lip due to it making my car look more aggressive .... What are some lips yall use because maybe I got what i paid for >.> |

Next time, in addition to the screws, use automotive strength double sided tape such as the 3m vhb along the edges. Many other lips come with the tape already applied.
If there's wax on the surface, get that off first. You'll want to clean the surface real good then with alcohol. A little bit of heat will help the tape bond, too. Once installed, put pressure on it to help keep it on as long as you can before driving so the tape is well bonded. I know you're talking about a front lip, but when I did my trunk lip I taped it down for a full 24hrs before driving. It's been on for a while now and with NO lifting on the edges like you often see happen to many spoilers.

Was it an ebay front lip like this (see picture)?
I've had mine on for about a month now.......seems to be hanging on just fine. I didn't use any tape...only what came in the kit as far as hardware goes. I ended up using about three times as many screws as the kit came with though......I think the kit only came with 6 screws, and if that's all you used..no wonder it came off. Even with all the extra screws I added, I wish it had some extra support in the front...it's pretty flimsy. But for $60......I wasn't really expecting too much. I just haven't gotten around to ordering a nicer $300+ one yet.

Unless you provide this splitter a rigid support it will keep bending and produce significantly less downforce than it could.
It should be strong enough to withstand one foot step. If not it either deforms or flies away :-) |

Does this lip inrease HP or something? I wonder how it made it's way onto N54 Turbo Engine / Drivetrain / Exhaust Modifications section of the forum lol

It depends... if you paint it red or wrap it in carbon look... + extra points would be “Twin turbo” mirror flipped around... but only in the literate gang though :-)
