Why are dealer website listings always garbage?
Seems like no matter the brand or location dealer website listings are always trash. Trying to figure out what options are included only to find out that an "option" for the car you're looking at is turbocharged or rear defrost. Why can't there be a dealer template that makes the sales people specifically tick what optionsthe car has? Is it that difficult?
Here is a "Premium Options & Packages" section for an M5 and identified a few of the non-optional premium options. Quote:

most dealers are owned by parent companies; which may use their templates. furthermore its all automated. the cars are going to sell. they just have to get you to the lot. i know seraching for a manual and seeing a flappy is a pain in the ass

The dealer software just uses a VIN decoder to pull options. Its sort of right. Dealers arent actually reading and writing 90% of their vehicle descriptions.
They have a preset template + VIN decoder to populate cars.com / autotrader.com / cargurus.com / carfax.com ect... |

They should do what all Mazda dealerships do and provide a PDF link to the actual window sticker. That way you know exactly what options are included and the exact MSRP.

Many dealerships? It seems that *all* BMW dealerships classify DCT as a manual. Assuming dealership data feeds into cpo.bmwusa.com -- if you search for a CPO, every single M2 in the US is classified as a manual. You have to look at the pictures to determine 6-speed vs. DCT. I've never seen an M2 classified as an automatic.

The new inventory search (https://www.bmwusa.com/inventory.html) does not even offer transmission choice as a filter. Even when you select a specific vehicle, it does not show you the transmission in the car details and DCT is not listed in the Packages and Options section. |
