Hole in Valve Cover Coil pack area
After a great long while of limited driving, I am finally in the process of pulling the head to see if coolant in cylinder 1 is due to head gasket or block. I wanted to get opinions on my valve cover. I noticed a bunch of grey "soot" down with the spark plugs as well as lining the hole where the coil packs go in. Cylinder 3 and 6 have holes what I can assume is burnt through, most likely from a coil pack arcing, again, assumption.
I do not see the ignition coil sleeves that are referenced on page 113-5, but I assume those are for the plastic valve cover and not the magnesium valve cover like I have. So, is this cover toast? Cyclinder 6: Cylinder 3: Soot Thank you!

Lots of searching with search terms that are fairly general, so lots of reading, but I finally ran across this post and it seems no one was concerned about the hole.
https://www.e90post.com/forums/showt...=Coil+pack+arc There are no cracks or holes that lead inside the cover, so I’ll probably clean it really well and try the JB Weld the holes to seal them back up. |
