Thinking about an intake dyno comparison test
I found 2 different used intakes in the FS section, and I'm thinking of picking them up for a dyno comparison between the two.
One is an Injen intake (which according to the dyno thread, may have potential) the other is the AFE stage 2 intake, which supposedly has potential as well. I'd also like to test a modded stock airbox (if anyone wants to donate an extra) and see what the gains are overall. This test is contingent on a few factors - Money - I have a guy who I dyno with, and I'll see how much it cost to buy some dyno time, he's fairly affordable. I also wouldn't mind donations to help me out, this whole process will probably not be cheap. Time - My weekends Saturday are generally free, as are some days in the middle of the week. Time really shouldn't be an issue, but you never know. Parts - I'm about to drop over $300 to two intake (and maybe even more to test a drop in/Charcoal delete blah blah blah) Anyone want to pledge to buy one of them off me? I'll have no need for so many parts. Tune - My heart is set on OE, and I emailed them tonight with a few questions. I'm unsure if I should tune BEFORE or AFTER the intakes. And if I do the test (and I do want to) should I attempt the 3 stage? Give me some feedback and ideas guys, I've never really attempted anything like this. AND if you want to help out in anyway, donation of time to help me install, money (dyno and parts) or part and/or information, I'm all for it. Thanks in advance. -S |

It would be ideal if you could:
1. Get a base dyno 2. Charcoal delete(free), Drop in high flow filter,3 stage intake manifold +AA tune. Then dyno after the car adapts 3. Then Dyno for each additional intake after the car adapts for each one. So yea about 4 Dyno's if you do 2 different intakes. And Obviously one final one with an exhaust manifold would be nice. And as for exhaust it would be up to each individual because of how many different ones there are. This by no means will be cheap, but would be awesome if we could get this done |

dont do the AFE open intake...if anything do the sealed. The injen is a good idea though.. I may even buy it for the ripe price of about 100 bucks if you decide to sell it :P

1. take the intake out 2. Take out the filter 3. Cut out the one that won't come out. Use some sand paper to smooth it out. 3. Drop in a high flow filter and put it back in the car It's a 10-15 min job just don't get your Maf sensor dirty and if you want use a Maf cleaner. If it throws a code just clean the Maf sensor better. The charcol filter is there to filter out the fumes when the engine is off. |

Well, I talked to Jeremy from OE tuning today. He's is an awesome guy to speak to, full of information and seems genuinely excited about his product. It's on sale now, so I'm going to pick it up with the flash tool so I can have 2 tunes on there.
Anyone willing to donate their stock intake boxes to me? |

My car was hit an is getting a new door, but once it gets back I have a stock box with an intake resonator , carbon filter delete, and both and AFe dry filter and a K&N sitting around if you would like any of that stuff. I just ordered the AFe SI box so i shouldnt need the stock one any more

OK. I'll let you know when I get my car back. Might not be for a week or two. Then we can figure something out with shipping

You guys are just straight douches. The guy is trying to provide something for the good of the community that has never been done before and you don't want him to for no reason at all. The only way any group of enthusiasts moves forward is stuff like this and you're telling him not to get us more knowledge about our cars. That makes literally no sense to me. I am convinced that every single one of you would look at the comparison if he did it and from then on we would no longer have to answer "which intake is best" questions by feeding people bullshit, because I know none of us know with evidence which has the best power gains if any.
